What we know about Victor Newman’s storyline so far is that he is very ill with PNH, a rare blood disease. He tried a medical treatment that did not work. Because the condition could be fatal, Victor decided to go forward with the experimental treatment, which may have some unpleasant side effects.
A couple of those side effects are confusion and aggression, both of which Victor has been experiencing. On Friday’s show, July 12, Victor lost his cool at the Society bartender over his favorite Tequila brand, screaming he’s been getting this specific brand for years.

Somehow in Victor’s mind, he confuses the Society with The Athletic Club. He gets very upset about the incident. And afterward, Victor feels embarrassed and considers not leaving his home until the side effects of the experimental medication run its course.
While this storyline is different and it doesn’t seem to be a repeat of anything they’ve done recently on Y&R, the actor who plays Victor, Braeden has expressed some disappointment in the storyline. However, he’s quick to point out that he trusts the writing team and believes they will make Victor “bigger and stronger than ever.”

Braeden was one of the actor’s who was pretty vocal both before and after Mal Young stepped down as head writer and executive producer. He threw his support behind Josh Griffith and Anthony Morina, asking his fans to be patient as it will take time for the writing team to fix Young’s errors.
The blind item in Soap Opera Digest suggests that one soap star is unhappy with his storyline, while it could be another actor, many fans feel it points to Eric Braeden, as his current storyline is turning his once strong character with a brilliant mind into a weaker and confused old man.
