The 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations are finally out, so this is a time to celebrate all the talent of the soap world. The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless all received noms for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing Team and Outstanding Directing Team – no surprise there!
Of course, the competition is a bit stiffer when it comes to the acting categories. Did your favorite soap stars make the cut? Let’s run down the list of nominations and find out. There were certainly some incredible performances in 2019, which were the ones eligible to get awards in 2020.
For starters, there’s Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) scored a nomination for his work on GH and so did fellow General Hospital actor Jon Lindstrom (Ryan Chamberlain).
Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester) served as the lone B&B contender while Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera) represented DOOL. Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) came through as Y&R’s candidate, so there are definitely some fantastic actors competing here.
In the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category, Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) and Maura West (Ava Jerome) received nominations for their General Hospital roles. Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Forrester) and Heather Tom (Katie Logan) also picked up noms for The Bold and the Beautiful. Days star Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) was nominated for her role on Days of Our Lives as well.
Moving on, we’ve got Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Those nominations included Mark Grossman (Adam Newman) and Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) on Y&R along with James Patrick Stuart on GH. Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis), Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Paul Telfer (Xander Kiriakis) were all given noms for their roles on Days, so DOOL is well-represented in this category.
GH stars Tamara Braun (Kim Nero) and Rebecca Budig (Hayden Barnes) picked up nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) also got one for her work on Days. So did Christel Khalil on Y&R and Annika Noelle (Hope Logan) on B&B.
In the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series category, The Young and the Restless had a strong showing. Elissa Kapneck (Sasha) received a nomination along with Eva LaRue (Celeste Rosales) and Jeffrey Vincent Parise (Simon Black). Michael E. Knight got a nom of his own for playing Martin Gray on GH. As for Days, Chrishell Stause was nominated for her portrayal of Jordan Ridgeway.
For Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series, Y&R’s Sasha Calle picked up a nomination along with DOOL’s Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire Brady) and Thia Megia (Haley Chen). Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Tait) and Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) were also recognized with noms.
