Emma is talking to Lucca by video. She met him several weeks ago at a conference. She can’t date until she is 16. She cried when she left him. He cried as well. He has a plan to see her soon. Anna is in the background making faces. Emma can’t wait until she goes to college so she has her own room.
The family heads to an escape room. It will be boys vs. the girls. The boys will start first. They have 45 minutes to complete their mission. The boys do well. First but end up losing. They come out and won’t tell the girls how their mission went.
The girls head in to start their mission. They have a hard time reaching things. But they do better than the boys.
Out to a restaurant, they all sit and eat. Their dad reminds them school starts tomorrow and summer break is over. All the kids will head back to school while Jonah and Anna will head to college.
They all discuss with Jonah how he is headed to a new college after failing out of his first college. Amber tells him he needs to step it up. Alex plans on joining robotics.
Amber and Anna pick up Alex and Emma after running errands. They hate school and already have a project. Emma is cranky as she talks about cheering starting next week.
At home, Amber and Alex play with his robot. She thinks its cute. He thinks it is cool. He tells her how try-outs for robotics went well.
He has been added as an alternate. He is happy. Amber thinks if he sticks with it he could go to camp.
The next day, Emma is at cheer practice. She is a co-captain. Her coach is proud of how great she is doing. Emma never thought she would be a co-captain.
After cheer, Amber checks in with Emma at home. She asks her all about school and cheer. Emma asks when she can see Lucca. Amber tells her next summer. Emma tells her that it too far away. Amber reminds her she has things to get done when it comes to school and cheer. Amber reminds her she is not allowed to date until she is 16.
Jonah sits down with Amber to tell her his college. He is taking 18 credits. Trent joins them. He wants to know what Jonah plans to do if he fails. What will he do for work? Jonah says there is no backup plan, he is not going to fail.
Alex is at robotics. They work to create a maze for their robots. At home, Trent and Amber talk more about Jonah. Trent wants to continue the conversation and make Jonah realize he has faith in him. He calls to Jonah to go for a walk. They talk. Trent reassures him he has faith he can do this and that he and his mom are supportive.
Alex and Emma work on their social studies project. Amber helps them get their presentations ready. They arrive at school dressed in their costumes. They stand in front of their presentations and give their speeches. Alex is FDR while Emma is Malala.
