Beyonce & Mom Tina Knowles Lawson Team Up – Provide COVID-19 Testing In Houston

Beyonce’s BeyGOOD organization is teaming up with her mom, Ms. Tina Knowles Lawson, to do something great for the Houston, Texas, community in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. BeyGOOD is sponsoring the #IDIDMYPART initiative, which was created by Ms. Knowles Lawson to encourage residents in Houston to get tested for COVID-19.

The initiative will provide mobile testing for COVID-19 on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th in Houston. The initiative will provide 1,000 COVID-19 test kits, face masks, gloves, vitamins, and household supplies to Houston residents. The test will be free and will be administered under safe conditions – participants won’t have to exit their vehicles.

Residents who receive a COVID-19 test will also receive a gift card from the H-E-B Grocery Store chain, which will be provided by BeyGOOD. Participants will also receive a hot meal as well as written materials with all of the relevant and updated information on how to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Beyonce’s website, the campaign was created “to start a movement to encourage Black communities to prioritize health in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.”

“The virus is wreaking havoc on the Black community, so we need a movement to prioritize our health,” Ms. Knowles Lawson said. “It is critical that we stay vigilant with social distancing, wearing a mask, and most of all getting tested. If you don’t get tested, then you don’t know if you are a carrier of the virus.”

Ms. Knowles Lawson continued: “Being asymptomatic is how you infect your entire household and those around you, the very people you love. We have got to go to these free testing facilities and find out our status.”

It’s great to see Beyonce and Ms. Knowles Lawson teaming up to help the Houston community during the coronavirus pandemic.
