Chicago Fire begins tonight with the ambo pulling into Firehouse 51. Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) greets them with a long day. Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) comments that Mercury is in Retrograde and it is a thing before walking off. Matt wants to know if Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) has reached out to her birth mother, but she feels speaking in person should be better. He reminds her to take it at her own pace and whatever way she chooses is right. They are interrupted when another call comes in.

A man and woman direct them to a man, Jake (Matt Vonn) who is laying in the stairwell, his lips are turning blue. They decide to give him Narcan as Emily walks into the apartment, she finds another woman who has Oded; they give her two shots of Narcan as Brett searches the apartment and finds more overdose victims, calling in for CFD backup as well.

Several fire trucks and ambulances arrive as Foster and Brett tells them about the situation; three victims in ambulances and one inside the bathroom blocking the door and they try to avoid further injury. Sylvie enters first and they still have a pulse. She is given Narcan and oxygen. A teen rushes in, concerned about his girlfriend Brandi who was supposed to be there so Brett offers for him to go with them. His girlfriend took some pills and no one knows what they are; he goes running off but Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) didn’t chase him, he just gives the information to CPD Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins).

Back at the fire station as Sylvie took a shower and Emily reveals to everyone how rough the call really was. A 17-year-old girl didn’t make it and she was just a baby. Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) talks about how he wants to homeschool his kids just to keep them safe these days. Matt finds Sylvie who is quite upset but he tries to get her to focus on the two lives she did save tonight. He broaches the subject of her birth mom, saying if she wants to meet her he is willing to go with her as a buddy. She tells him that would be amazing and thanks.

Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) tells Severide that Ruzek called and they found the boyfriend and he was asked to go over to 21 for a few minutes and Boden cuts squad until he gets back. Severide is able to confirm Travis is the boyfriend, all three want to know why he ran away. Kevin reminds him that whoever gave the drugs only cares about making money, not who dies. He says he ran because he cannot be involved or he gets kicked off the basketball team. He is still trying to cope with the fact that Brandi is dead. He honestly doesn’t know who gave her the pills. They believe him but want him to say who threw the party and where it was at. Rusek says they will bring in everyone who was there, one by one until they get the drugs off the street.

Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) appears at the firehouse, surprising Sylvie. He isn’t there to visit, but his sister Sarah went missing last week and tonight her best friend died of an overdose and he wants to know what happened. Sean meets with Boden, revealing he got to town 3 days ago, His parents say she went to school last Thursday and she never came home. He admits Sarah was always a bit wild, has been in and out of trouble and now 3 of her friends have OD’d on fentanyl. He informs Severide that the teen they had in custody is a friend of his sister’s too but hasn’t seen her since Thursday as well. Boden learns that his wife is a teacher at the school Sean’s sister attends.

Boden comes home to see Donna off to work, he reveals 3 students from her school overdosed – 2 survived but one didn’t. Boden mentions the name but Donna has no idea who she is. He informs her that Sarah Roman has gone missing and it is believed that her disappearance has something to do with what went down tonight. He hugs her knowing how tough a day this is going to be.

Matt and Sylvie are on the road, her feeling her whole life is about to change but he reminds her that nothing has to change unless she wants it to. She talks about having a case of bad Disney Princess fever and felt her birth parents had to be British Royals. Nowadays she just figured reality could never live up to the reality.

Severide and Sean Roman come to Donna’s classroom; they meet Shelby who is told she can trust these men. Shelby says Sarah has been going out with this old guy named Logan Peters, a former student who was expelled for dealing. Sean stares down the photo as Shelby reveals he goes to all their parties and is always hanging around outside the school. Sean wants to get a read on the guy first before they turn it into the intelligence unit; Severide agrees to work with Sean together, quietly.

Matt and Sylvie park outside a house, which Matt says looks nice. She takes off her seatbelt and says she is doing this as Matt wishes her good luck. A man opens the door, she says she is looking for Julie (Kelly Deadmon), but the man tells her this is the wrong address and closes the door. Sylvie looks at Matt disappointed, feeling this is the universe’s way of telling her to leave things alone and asks Matt to drive.

Sean and Kelly arrive at an apartment complex where Sean asks for Riz (Javier Villamil); but Sean makes a mistake, using a name of a member who is dead and a gun is pointed at him. He confronts him about how he was the only one who got survived, especially since they look like undercover Justin Timberlake narcs. Roman takes the gun from him as Severide takes down the other guy, saying it didn’t have to do this way. He shows him a picture of Logan Peters who works the schools. Riz doesn’t supply him but knows he is rolling with the West 7 Crew (South Side Hustlers). Sean takes the gun as he explains to Severide what is going on with the crews. He knows that finding his sister is their number one priority but they need to call for backup and call Voight (Jason Beghe). Sean says the last thing he wants is cruisers surrounding the park and tipping the guy off before he gets a chance to talk to them. He suggests that Severide can bail if he wants but Sean is going to do this with or without him..

Emily sits with Brett, wondering if her mom wrote down the wrong address by accident. She got the fluttery feeling in her belly everytime she’d think of the woman who gave her up. Emily is very sorry as Sylvie tells her to pick the dumbest thing on Netflix and things will be okay.

Adam places Logan Peters’ photo on their board, believing they may have found their guy. Severide gives IU all the information he got from Roman, but admits that he isn’t thinking straight and could get himself killed. Kelly is surprised that none of them knew Sean was in Chicago, nor that his sister is missing nor than he is dealing with this case himself; especially startling Sean’s ex, Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati).

It is clear that Roman doesn’t want to be found on his hunt of Logan. Boden wonders why he would want to keep CPD in the dark like this? Kim says they haven’t spoken in a while and they’ve been out of touch. Adam defends Kim, furious that Roman could be burning their leads. Voight can’t blame Sean for putting his family first, so they bring the dealer’s ass in and keep it between them for now.

Brett gets a visitor at the firehouse, someone with beautiful blond hair and it turns out to be Julie, her birthmom. She apologizes how her husband, Scott reacted as she just told him about her recently and the letter she send. He is still trying to process and felt terrible when she left, immediately telling Julie what he did. Brett learns Julie was 16 when she was born and was sure someone else could do a much better job and it seems like they have. Brett is so glad to see her although she was confused when she left their place. Julie has more news, revealing her pregnancy belly; admitting she never had other children and didn’t think it was possible at 46, but there they are. Sylvie excuses herself as a call comes in. Julie asks for another chance and wants her to know they want her in their lives in any way that works for her,

Sylvie makes it into the ambo, completely emotional. They arrive at a house where the basement unit is fully involved. Shots are fired and they call for CPD as Severide notices Sean Roman running out of the fire with a gun in his hand. They pull him back and he says that Logan Peters is inside the house but couldn’t get him out because of all the smoke. Severide tells him to think about leaving as they see the two people inside that doesn’t have any time; Severide and Casey decide to take on the active shooters in order to save them as Sylvie and Emily tend to Sean. They spot gasoline canisters and finally find Travis who is inside and had been shot. They need to hustle as the ceiling crashes down on top of them. They are able to remove Travis from the fire who is losing a lot of blood and they need to decompress it.

Once outside, Severide finds Roman coming out of the fire rubble, saying Logan must have escaped through the window; his only lead on his sister. Kelly reveals that Travis is the one who lost his sister the night before and possibly figured things out like Roman did and came for revenge. Sean called 911 when he saw the smoke and heard gun shots, rushing in without thinking. CPD arrives and Sean says, “Here we go!” Voight walks up, shaking Sean’s hand; saying they will take his statement somewhere more quiet. Sean sits beside Kim, asking him why he didn’t come to them. Sean went to fire first because of the ODs; admitting he couldn’t come to her, not because they broke up. She harshly reminds him that he is not a cop, so she can take him to the station for his statement or in this car.

Sean admits his sister is dealing for money and also an addict. He knows she is looking at a drug induced homicide. Kim begs him to trust her for now. She starts the car. A battle begins between the apartment residents.
