Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that a familiar character will return with a new face. A Days rep confirmed to Soap Hub that Cameron Johnson will be stepping in as a Theo Carver recast. The role was last played by Kyler Pettis, who made his final DOOL appearance back in 2018.
Of course, Pettis earned many fans for his work as Theo, but it’s worth mentioning that his exit came with some drama. Before Pettis’ final scenes aired, he leaked them online – which leaked the debut of Victoria Konefal as a Ciara Brady recast in the process.
That caused quite a stir in the soap world and spoiled things the show wasn’t ready to spoil, so it’s possible that was part of this recast decision.
Then again, there’s always a chance Pettis simply didn’t want to return. Either way, a new Theo is headed to Salem later this fall. Although Theo has been off screen for a couple years now, he still puts his tech skills to good use for Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) occasionally.
Lani has called her brother for help over the phone on multiple occasions.
It was also mentioned that JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) has been off spending time with Theo in South Africa. DOOL fans will recall that Theo was shot and injured by JJ, who couldn’t see Theo’s face and thought he had a gun in the dark.
That led to a treatment program for Theo, who struggled with some paralysis issues and needed help to recover.
Theo’s treatment seems to have paid off – and he’s obviously got a solid friendship with JJ now. We know Casey Moss is also set to reprise his role, so will JJ and Theo return from South Africa together? That’s a possibility to consider if JJ’s still hanging out with Theo over there.
Lani and Abe Carver (James Reynolds) will certainly love catching up with Theo in person. Perhaps Theo could spend Thanksgiving with his sister and father this year. Whatever the case, Days of Our Lives insiders insist Theo’s return stint will be a brief one.
It doesn’t look like Theo will have any major stories going on, but it’ll still be nice to see a family reunion. Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) always had a special bond with Theo, so maybe he can share some sweet scenes with him, too.
