Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Camila Banus (Gabi Hernandez DiMera) recently made an important announcement about her health on Instagram. In a new video, Banus used a diamond teardrop filter since she had some sad news to share.
Unfortunately, Banus has tested positive for COVID-19 and now has to go into quarantine.
Banus thankfully doesn’t have severe symptoms, but she did note that she’s battling mild congestion and can no longer taste or smell. The Days star is in good spirits, but she wanted to give everyone a heads-up on her diagnosis.
“I was traveling, as you guys know, in Florida,” Banus said in her video. “Got engaged, which was super amazing, and was heading back on the 25th and was not feeling right.”
That prompted Banus to get a COVID-19 test to see if that might be the reason why. “And your girl tested positive,” Banus admitted. “Well, it is what it is…I’m a strong girl so keeping up with my vitamins…”
Banus went on to say in her video clip. She’s grateful for all the well wishes she’s already receiving and plans to keep herself occupied with fun things to do at home.
Banus revealed that she’d quarantine for 10 days and then check in with her health care providers. There’ll be a follow-up test to make sure Banus is in the clear before she can return to the Days of Our Lives studio.
According to DOOL 2021 preview info, Gabi’s set to come back in the picture right after Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) and Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) go public with their official relationship.

There’s no word yet on whether the role of Gabi will have to be temporarily recast or if Days can work around Banus’ absence. Regardless, Banus offered some advice for DOOL viewers as she concluded her latest video updates. “Wash your hands, wear your mask, be safe,” Banus said while signing off.
