Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that we need to talk about Charlie Dale (Mike Manning) and his staying power in Salem. Most DOOL fans have been able to tell for a while now that Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) is innocent.
That emotional private moment by Ciara Brady Weston’s (Victoria Konefal) grave sealed the deal on Tripp not being guilty of what Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) claims.
Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) believed Tripp’s side of the story right away and finally pressured Charlie into admitting he was the real culprit. Charlie is Tripp’s half-brother and was following him that night on Ava’s orders, which led to him holding Allie down and forcing himself on her.
Now that we have confirmation on Charlie’s guilt, it doesn’t bode well for his future.
Not only is Charlie a lying rapist, he’s willing to let Tripp get put on full blast for his own despicable move. We’ve seen Charlie’s whole demeanor change and now terrible secrets are coming out.
It’s clear that Charlie is a two-faced loser who’s fine with attacking women – as evidenced by what happened with Allie and what’s about to happen with Ava.
On December 17, Charlie will knock Ava unconscious with a fierce blow to the head. He’ll be so desperate to prevent his exposure that he apparently considers murdering his mother, too! This will just be the latest shocker to unfold in Charlie’s horrible violent streak.
We can’t forget Allie’s tearful confession about how traumatic the assault was and how she shouted a firm “no” at her attacker. Just because Allie mistakenly blamed Tripp doesn’t mean she isn’t a victim – and in Allie’s defense, she has no reason to doubt the DNA evidence at this point in the story.
Charlie doesn’t deserve to be out on the streets after what he did to Allie; he certainly shouldn’t be dating the cousin who’s perhaps Allie’s closest friend!
Days of Our Lies spoilers say Charlie is setting Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) up for serious heartbreak on top of the horror he’s inflicted. Not to mention Allie now has a kid to raise and a reminder of the assault that’ll last forever.
With all this in mind, will Charlie really stick around beyond this rape storyline? It’s one thing for a character to kill another character in Salem. Death isn’t a permanent thing on Days, so that’s something most of us accept and can get past.
That’s especially true if the “killed” character is a villain like Ava. She’s back and fine now, so no one’s really blaming Joey Johnson (James Lastovic).
However, it’s different when you’re talking about innocent young Allie being completely violated like that. Although some characters like Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) have been able to overcome the stigma of rape, most don’t.
It’s why we’ll probably never see someone like awful Chase Jennings (Jonathan McClendon) again – not after what he did to Ciara on the Horton sofa. It’s just tough for Days viewers to let that kind of thing go. Will Charlie’s actions in London seal his fate? Will Charlie ultimately be written off the show?
Tripp didn’t face legal consequences when he was mistakenly accused, so Charlie may not face them either. Even so, Charlie could still land in prison for something else – like a repeat assault attempt or another crime.
If Charlie would attack Ava, he could attack others to protect himself. Ava won’t blab about Charlie’s guilt anytime soon, so he’ll have to stay on guard. That could mean another violent incident that adds to Charlie’s growing list of crimes.
Skipping town is another option for Charlie, but a deadly fate might be inevitable if he keeps this up.
