Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) was recently forced to face the facts. DOOL fans know Chad’s been insisting that Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) is to blame for drugging Abigail DiMera (Kate Mansi). However, that was mostly because Chad wanted it to be true.
After Gabi was exonerated, Chad took a moment to reflect as he gazed at Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) portrait. It’s clear that Chad’s obsessed with protecting his father’s legacy and keeping the company out of Gabi’s hands.
Chad contemplated why he cares so much before acknowledging why he wanted the drugging culprit to be Gabi. It allowed Chad to ignore the alternative, which was that someone else might’ve been following Stefano’s orders. Now Chad’s left to wonder if Stefano would really do that to his own son.
Of course, DOOL viewers also have to wonder about the details of all this. Keep in mind that the person who brought Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) back to life doesn’t have to be the same person who drugged Abigail. Those could be completely separate plots, so it’s wise to just focus on the drugging issue here.
If Chad’s right about Stefano ordering someone to drug Abigail, who did he order? Could it be Chad himself? Days of Our Lives fans will remember that Chad fell under a dangerous spell earlier this year. When Stefano was living in Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nichols) mind and body, Chad was given a drug and brainwashed into being the perfect DiMera soldier.
Although Chad seemingly snapped out of his trance with Abigail’s help, what if traces of his programming remain? Could Chad still have moments where he slips into a state of mind control without even realizing it?
We should mention that Abigail kept Stefano’s Phoenix ring. Abigail hid it in a drawer, so that brought a bizarre and ominous scene. It seemed like the kind of thing that would come up again later.
Chad certainly hasn’t been the robotic and dark DiMera-fied version he was back then. Days viewers can see that Chad still cares about Abigail’s well-being. Chad’s also still affectionate with the kids, so he’s not totally brainwashed.
Even so, there’s no doubt that Chad’s been acting a bit unusual. Perhaps this is a more subtle version of what happened before. It would certainly explain why Chad downplayed his role as a good husband when Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) brought it up. Chad might subconsciously know he drugged Abigail, even if he’s not quite there yet on a conscious level.
Can you imagine how terrible Chad will feel if he learns HE’S the reason for Abigail’s suffering? That’d bring some great “Chabby” drama once Marci Miller returns to the role. There’s no guarantee that’s how things will play out, but it’s worth mulling over based on Chad’s borderline creepy behavior and comments.
