Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that the NBC soap could resume filming in the near future. According to new guidelines for the music, film and television industry, a return to production is recommended no sooner than June 12. That means it’s possible for the Days cast and crew to get back on set by then, but there’s a lot to consider first.
California Gavin Newsom released these guidelines, which come from the California Department of Public Health. The cast, crew and other industry workers will have to obey all the safety protocols that are put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. That means doing things like social distancing, testing and going along with any other sanitary precautions.
Public county health officers also have to approve after a review of local epidemiological data. They’ll need to examine info like how many cases there are per 100,000 population as well as the positive test rate. Another crucial factor is how well an area’s equipped to handle health care surges.
That seems particularly important in L.A. County, where there could be some delays on reopening. Hospital capacity is something that’s being looked at closely according to Deadline. L.A. Country is now dealing with a spike in cases – and it happened on the same day these guidelines came out.
“This has been a slight increase over the last three days in the number of people hospitalized and we’ll need to make sure that we’re not starting to see a significant increase in the number of people requiring hospitalizations,” Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said.
In other words, that June 20 mark is just a starting point for the recommendation. Days of Our Lives may not actually resume filming that soon; it’s simply possible based on the new guidelines. We should point out that California Governor Gavin Newsom is considering reopening portions of L.A. County sooner than others.
Honestly, it’s just great to hear some new developments that show things are moving in a positive direction. Of course, Days was in the best position going into this shutdown.
Unlike General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, DOOL had plenty of episodes in the can due to their advance filming schedule. They’ve been able to air brand-new content while all the others have switched to repeats.
With any luck, Days will hopefully resume production before they run out of new episodes. DOOL currently has enough shows to last through sometime in September depending on how many previously scheduled preemptions they skip. Keep in mind that many sporting events were cancelled or postponed, so that’s affecting what Days airs.
