Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that fans are reacting to a recent fall return promo, which got many viewers’ hopes up only to let them down again. Will Horton (Chandler Masser) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) were featured in a fall preview video, which had plenty of other confirmed comebacks. Sadly, Massey and Smith clarified that they’ve not been contacted about a return stint.
Smith and his fiancée, Alyssa Tabit, had Massey on their podcast, The Freddie and Alyssa Show. In that podcast, Smith and Massey discussed their plans – and those plans don’t include Days at the moment.
Massey revealed that “it’d just depend on the timing” if he was asked back. He’s moving to Atlanta this week and has already been interviewing for economics consulting firm jobs.
Likewise, Smith and Tabit are seeking their own fresh start in Florida as they pivot out of the industry for a bit. It’s clear that Smith and Massey are moving on with their lives, so Days would need to work with them on scheduling returns.
Nevertheless, DOOL Executive Producer Ken Corday made empty promises to line up with the recent promo, which was clearly deceptive.
“Chandler Massey [Will] and Freddie Smith [Sonny] are leaving, but they also will be returning on and off,” Corday said in a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest.
It might be a good idea to tell Smith and Massey, don’t you think?! Massey and Smith have always been open and honest with their fans about where things stand – and as of right now, no comeback is scheduled.
All the deception seems unnecessary. It was disappointing enough to see Will and Sonny go, so it feels like DOOL’s pouring salt in the wound! Why act like Sonny and Will are returning this fall if they aren’t?
As for the future, we have no doubt that Will and Sonny will be back eventually. However, it’s rude to just assume Smith and Massey will come running on short notice.
“Wow. I guess #DAYS just assumes they’ll jump at the offer whenever they [decide] to contact them. How offensive,” one fan said on Twitter. “It sounded like CM and FS are just as confused about why #Wilson are in the fall promo as we are!”
Another Days of Our Lives viewer tweeted. “So wrong Will and Sonny got pushed aside…It’s not like Will and Sonny were hogging airtime,” said one more fan.
There are definitely a lot of angry DOOL fans right now, but it’s good that Smith and Massey are willing to be so honest with all their supporters! We’ll give you updates as other Days news pops up.
