Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) will finish her current stint as September concludes, but her time in Salem is far from over! Sami will return to filming before 2020 wraps up and will continue to film for most of 2021.
That’s great news since Sami always manages to stir the pot, but what exactly will she be doing during this extended stay?
Here’s what Days Head Writer Ron Carlivati had to say in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “We have an idea for Sami but it hasn’t been fully pitched and approved yet, but because it’s Sami, you know it’s going to be something good,” Carlivati insisted.
Let’s see what we can figure out from Carlivati’s clues. For starters, this sounds like an actual Sami-centric story – not just a situation where they’re throwing her in the mix. It appears there’ll be a goal in mind when it comes to bringing Sami back to town.
Of course, Sami can still be involved in plenty of family drama – especially when it comes to her daughter, Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold). Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) will become sort of a surrogate mother to Allie in the months ahead, so they may wind up looking after Allie’s baby boy together.
That could certainly rile Sami up and lead to more issues. However, what we really want to talk about is Sami’s potential romance. Will Sami stay loyal to EJ DiMera (last played by James Scott), who’s stuck at a treatment facility in Italy?
With Sami away from EJ for so long, perhaps Sami will open her heart to Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) again. Loneliness could bring these exes back together.
Naturally, that’d be the perfect time to unleash EJ on Salem once again. Maybe EJ could make a miraculous recovery and decide the time is right for his DOOL comeback. EJ might want to surprise Sami back in Salem, but he could get a rude awakening if she’s sneaking around on him with Rafe!
That sounds like a big Sami story that might take some time to pitch and approve – especially since it’d require securing James Scott’s return (which might be unlikely) or figuring out the perfect EJ recast.
Regardless, Days of Our Lives spoilers say the show has the ideal opportunity to bring EJ back on canvas. If DOOL’s going to do it, they might as well go for it while Sami’s around for a long-term stint.
