Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, August 14, reveal that Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) told Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) that she knew the only reason Eve was back was to hurt Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Weston (Victoria Konefal).
As they stood in the park with Eve in her short black wig, Eve taunted Claire, saying that she wasn’t so innocent – after all, Claire set fires. Claire threatened to call the police, but Eve took Claire’s phone and wouldn’t let her do that.
Eve went on about how her little girl was dead, and that the people in the church were collateral damage. Claire was horrified, and she and Eve went back and forth over what Eve had done at the church.
Claire also railed at Eve for framing her, and Eve seemed like she genuinely had no idea what Claire was talking about. After more arguing, Claire told Eve that she was pathetic, and Eve slapped Claire.
But Claire wasn’t deterred, and she went on, arguing with Eve about whether Paige Larson (True O’Brien) would agree with what Eve’s doing. Eve started crying, but she quickly regrouped and blasted Claire, saying that Ben and Ciara would just have Claire locked up the next time she made a mistake.
Eve pushed Claire to the ground and ran off.
At the DiMera mansion, Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) and Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) figured that Gwen (Emily O’Brien) must have tipped off Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) about the meeting with Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) and the potential investor. Gabi decided to get answers, and she headed upstairs.
In Gwen and Jake’s room, Gwen talked with Chad, saying that she wanted him in her bed. Chad was horrified, and Gwen then explained that she wanted to pretend that they were having an affair to make Jake jealous.
Chad refused, and soon Gabi approached the door. Gwen heard someone approaching and assumed it was Jake, then pulled Chad into a kiss. Gabi saw the kiss and snapped a picture of it with her phone.
Gabi took off to go send the photo to Abigail DiMera (Kate Mansi) and show Jake, when Chad got a call saying that the deal with the investor closed. In the living room, Gabi returned to find Jake having a drink with Li. Li shared that the deal closed…because the investor liked Jake so much.
Gabi was happy but stunned. Li left and Gabi was speechless, while Jake cheered.
At the Salem PD, Ciara rushed in to find Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering in a close moment. Rafe stammered that he was just welcoming Hope back to the force, and that he and Hope were going after Eve and Vincent (Michael Teh).
Hope warned that Eve might come back to Salem, so Ciara should be careful. Ciara shared that Ben was having a session with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) today, and that he was pretty upset about what he went through.
Ciara eventually took off, telling Rafe not to let Hope go this time. After Ciara left, Rafe and Hope were clearly uncomfortable about Ciara’s statement, and they danced around the issue for a moment or two, then they decided to talk about it.
Hope suggested that they be friends and cops together for a while…for now. Rafe agreed, and Hope took off with some files to get up to speed on the case.
At the hospital, Ben shut the door to Marlena’s office and walked up to Vincent, demanding to know where Marlena was. Vincent said that he had arranged an emergency for Marlena to attend to, so it was just the two of them.
Ben demanded to know what Vincent did to him, and Vincent instructed Ben to let go of him, which Ben did.
Vincent smiled and Ben wondered why he let Vincent go. “Because you do what I tell you, and you’ll have to get used to It,” Vincent said. Ben flashed back to his torture and conditioning, but it was fuzzy, and he said that he couldn’t remember what happened then.
Vincent shared that Ben didn’t remember because he wasn’t supposed to remember, and that he was told to kill Ciara. Ben was horrified, and Vincent explained that it was mind control.
Ben said that he’d never harm Ciara, but Vincent mused that when it comes to killing pretty young women, Ben can’t help himself. Ben said he wasn’t that person anymore, but Vincent said there was still a part of him that liked to kill.
Vincent whipped out a syringe containing what he described as a performance enhancing drug for psychos. Vincent ordered Ben to put out his arm, and Ben complied.
Just then, Ciara knocked on the door. Ben answered and Ciara immediately asked what was wrong. Ben said that Marlena had an emergency and that he had waited for her, but she didn’t return.
Ben and Ciara took off, and as they walked through town square back toward the Salem Inn, Ben got fixated on Ciara’s necklace and started playing with it. Ciara wondered what was going on.
Suddenly, Claire rushed up to Ben and Ciara all out of breath and saying that she just saw Eve. Finally, at the no-tell motel, Eve looked at a picture of Paige when Vincent walked in. “Is it done?” Eve asked. “No, the wife walked in,” Vincent said.
Eve was peeved, but Vincent said that Ben’s will was no longer his own. “Good,” Eve said. “He will kill Ciara and he will understand what he did to me.”
