Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, July 17, reveal that Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan) was alone at the penthouse when Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) dropped by. Claire assumed that Ciara was there to fire her as maid of honor, but Ciara wanted Claire to pinky swear that she wasn’t sabotaging the wedding. Claire swore to it, then said that she wanted to take Ciara out for drinks since tomorrow is the wedding. Ciara said she’d meet Claire later.
At the Salem Inn, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) talked by phone with the ring shop. “Let me know if the ring turns up,” Ben said. Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) arrived to see Ben and told him the whole story about being Stefan DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) twin off-screen. Ben invited Jake out for drinks with him and Will Horton (Chandler Massey), but Jake refused.
At the DiMera mansion, Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) sat alone when Gwen (Emily O’Brien) staggered in and made a beeline for the liquor decanter. Gabi wondered how Gwen got in the mansion, and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) walked in, saying he invited Gwen. Chad took Gwen’s scotch from her, then learned all about Jake being Stefan’s twin. Chad took a swig from Gwen’s drink, and Gwen took off after needling Gabi about Jake being Jake.
Chad and Gabi argued, with Chad saying that Stefan was a monster and Gabi defending him. Gabi mused that Jake was a DiMera and that he might decide to come after his birthright. Chad said to wish Jake good luck with that, laughed, and left. Gabi looked pensive.
At the police station, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) disconnected from a call with Zoey Burge (Alyshia Ochse) and held a picture that David Ridgeway (Kyler Ends) had drawn for him. Suddenly, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) barged in, saying she was there to report a crime. “The police commissioner is trying to steal my grandchild,” Sami said. Sami then blasted Rafe for convincing Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) to give him her baby.
Rafe argued back that it wasn’t like that, and he told Sami the story of what really happened. Sami wanted Rafe to tell Allie that the answer was no. Rafe refused to manipulate Allie, and he told Sami that he hadn’t made up his mind yet. Sami lobbied for Allie to keep her baby, and she asked Rafe to think about it. Rafe looked miserable.
Soon, Ciara came to see Rafe, saying that she had something important to ask him. Ciara sweetly asked Rafe to walk her down the aisle tomorrow, since Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) wasn’t there to do it. Rafe happily agreed, and he and Ciara hugged warmly.
At the Brady Pub, Will and Allie talked, and Allie got Will up to speed on what happened at Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole Brady’s (Arianne Zucker) wedding with Sami.
Will didn’t pressure Allie, but he let her know that he and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) are ready and willing to adopt her baby if Rafe says no. Later, Ben joined Will for a beer and told Will about how he thinks that Claire is trying to sabotage the wedding.
Will and Ben were toasting to Will being Ben’s best man when Sami arrived, saying, “What the Hell? This day just keeps getting better and better.” Will turned around and smiled at his mom, while Ben looked scared.
Sami ranted about how Ben had tried to murder Will, and Will pointed out that Ben had actually saved his life in prison when Clyde Weston (James Read) tried to shiv him. Ben told Sami that he was sorry for all the pain he caused and left.
Sami and Will then talked at length, with Will fussing at Sami for chasing Ben off and for disrupting Eric and Nicole’s wedding. Sami then said that she just came from talking with Rafe, and Will was horrified.
Sami insisted that if Allie insists on giving her baby up, then Will and Sonny should get the baby. Sami said she was working on Rafe, and that they needed to keep her finagling just between the two of them. Will said no way.
Back at the penthouse, Claire was leaving when Allie arrived. Allie updated Claire on how Eric and Nicole’s wedding went, and Claire invited Allie out for drinks with her and Ciara. Claire got special drinks – Zombies – for her and Ciara, and a soda for Allie.
Claire, Ciara, and Allie had fun talking and drinking their drinks. Ben then called Ciara, and they gushed that their wedding day was tomorrow and that it was going to be the best day of their lives.
At Jake’s garage, Jake unhappily read a story online about Stefan’s death, then Gwen arrived. Gwen hugged and kissed Jake, saying that she heard the news. Jake said that he was still good old Jake. “Not exactly,” Gwen said. “Darling we’re rich!” Gwen gushed before kissing Jake again.
Finally, back at the Salem PD, Rafe ignored a text from Allie, then he got a call and seemed shocked by what the person on the other end said. Rafe called Gabi and asked if she was with Jake because he had some news about Jake’s mother. Gabi asked what was going on, and Rafe said that Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) was dead.
