Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that another big return is on the way, but an exit has to come first! After DOOL fans found out Camila Banus would be reprising the role of Gabi Hernandez DiMera following her exit on August 28, it led to speculation that Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) might come back, too. It turns out that’s indeed the case according to EW.com, who’s reporting that Gering will return as Rafe.
Of course, we should point out that when Gering, Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) were fired from the NBC soap, the show didn’t anticipate several other key players leaving.
Even with Camila Banus and Gering returning, Days is still losing Victoria Konefal (Ciara Weston), Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady).
If DOOL had known there’d been so many exits that’d come later, they might have chosen to keep Smith, Massey and Gering around. There’s also this extended hiatus to consider, so that’s given the show time to form new plans and settle on what they want.
Regardless, the situation is being rectified when it comes to Gering and his role as Rafe. Gering will return to set once Days of Our Lives is back in action. The show was previously set for a tentative September 1 restart date, but EW.com now points to August 31 as the first day DOOL will resume production.
Let’s talk about what you can expect on screen as Rafe and Gabi leave before ultimately coming back. During the week of August 24-28, Eduardo Hernandez (A Martinez) will pop up with some startling news.
Whatever Eduardo reveals will take Gabi and Rafe off canvas in a hurry – and it looks like there’ll be some danger involved.
Since Rafe’s a good cop, he’ll probably be a pro at handling his risky situation. He may deal with Eduardo’s problem and make his way home with Gabi soon after.
August 28 will be the date of Gabi and Rafe’s temporary exit, but they’ll probably resurface by early November or so. If you’re a fan of the Hernandez siblings, just hang in there and you’ll see them again before you know it!
