Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers has some fun news to pass on about a former DOOL star. As DOOL viewers will remember, the character of Ted Laurent (Gilles Marini) met a terrible end when he was shot in the chest by Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) after a struggle to gain control of a gun.
Ted had just discovered that Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) was masquerading as Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), and he lunged for a gun to kill her, when Tony intervened and the gun went off, killing Ted.
Well, it certainly seems like Ted was really dead – after all, he was shot in the chest on-screen. But this is Days of Our Lives that we’re talking about, and people have been brought back from the dead right and left. Could Ted someday make a return?
Recently, Soap Hub interviewed Gilles Marini, who portrayed Ted, about what he’s been up to lately, and during the interview, Gilles was asked about whether he’d want to come back to DOOL. Gilles said: “Yes. I loved being on DAYS. I think coming back from the dead can be silly, but maybe Ted has a twin brother?”
A twin could be interesting, or we could see Ted re-emerge after being miraculously resurrected by Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay). Goodness knows that Rolf has brought people back to life who seemingly couldn’t have been revived, so it probably won’t be so strange (in a very “Days” way) to have Ted come back to life.
It would certainly be interesting to see what might happen between Ted and Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) going forward, especially since she’s got the persona of Princess Gina Von Amberg (Kristian Alfonso) right now.
Of course, since DOOL tapes so far in advance, by the time we’d see Ted again (assuming he returns), then Hope could finally be Hope again.
One wonders whether Hope and Ted would really have potential as a couple, now that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) is out of Hope’s life. There was another loose end, too, that could be explored – on one occasion, Diana Colville (Judith Chapman) mentioned that she had seen Ted’s wife overseas.
That left viewers wondering who Ted’s wife was and what the story was there. It’s certainly something that could be picked back up.
At any rate, it’s great to hear that Gilles Marini would be open to a return to Days if things align down the road. Ted was an interesting character who seems to have more of a story to tell, if TPTB decide to go that route.
