Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) will face more heartbreak. DOOL fans know Rafe was crushed when he had to say goodbye to Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso). Just when they’d decided to give their relationship another try, Rafe was forced out of town due to a dangerous threat.
The good news is Rafe’s coming back this fall. The bad news is Hope will already be gone when he returns! Alfonso has filmed her last scenes at Days of Our Lives and has confirmed her exit and that she’s not coming back to film her remaining scripts.
That means DOOL writers have been tasked with reworking the story, especially now that Rafe’s returning.
Hope was initially supposed to be off canvas for a few months as part of a story-dictated decision. In other words, Alfonso would’ve come back to film an exit and then would’ve returned later.
That’s not happening now, but it’s important to think about what might’ve been. It could still be an indicator of how the show will wrap things up for Hope.
For starters, we should point out that Rafe didn’t give Hope the real reason for his abrupt departure. Rafe told Hope that his mother was quite ill, so he was leaving Salem to be with her. Naturally, Hope will want to check in soon – especially after Ciara Weston’s (Victoria Konefal) nightmare is over.
It’s easy to imagine Hope being perplexed when Rafe’s cell phone is no longer in service. Hope might try getting in touch with Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) next, but she’d run into the same problem. When Hope can’t get in touch with Rafe’s mom either, she should realize something’s seriously wrong.
That might lead Hope to think back on how emotional Rafe was during their farewell. It could occur to Hope that it felt awfully somber and final, so she may fret over the danger Rafe’s clearly in. Hope’s a great detective, so it shouldn’t be hard for her to start connecting the dots.
At that point, what’s Hope going to do? Just sit around and twiddle her thumbs? No way! Hope will surely want to leap into action and try to track down Rafe as well as Gabi.
Days fans know Hope’s the kind of gal who likes to take baddies down, not let them win. She’d undoubtedly think she could help stop this threat and bring the Hernandez siblings home.
That brings us to the exit Alfonso was probably supposed to film – the one that she won’t be able to film now that she’s already wrapped filming. Hope was probably going to start a search for Rafe, which could still be what she does.
Perhaps Hope will confide her search plan to someone offscreen and allow another character to explain things to fans.
Since we know Rafe’s returning without Hope, what does that mean? Will Hope go missing during her search? Could Hope even be presumed dead? Whatever the case, Rafe won’t get the reunion he’s dreaming of when he returns.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Hope will no longer be in Salem, so Rafe will have to carry on without her.
