Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that wedding season will soon be in full swing. There’ll be more proposals and preparations as we build to the four weddings that are happening in July. Those weddings will be followed by a funeral, so who’ll be the one in the casket? Will anyone even be in it at all?
This is a bit of a puzzle since the timing doesn’t line up with exits that we know are coming. There’ll be some major departures around September, but this funeral’s happening right after all the July wedding drama. We should also note that Days of Our Lives spoilers don’t specifically mention a death, which could be significant.
When you see the word “funeral,” most of us think about someone dying. In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, Days Head Writer Ron Carlivati previewed what was ahead for the summer. Although Carlivati mentioned this funeral twice, he never actually said someone would die. There was just vague talk of a funeral to contend with.
That’s strange since soaps absolutely love to advertise “shocking deaths.” The funeral merely implies that someone will suffer a grim fate. This “four weddings and a funeral” theme is catchy and makes sense, but it’s weird to avoid saying someone will die, a character will pass away, there’ll be a death, etc.
We have to wonder if maybe it’s because someone will fake his or her demise. If this death isn’t real, that’s be a good reason to avoid the topic and focus on the funeral. There’ll be a funeral for sure! No ifs, ands or buts. It’s when you start talking about the death itself that things get murky, so Carlivati may not have wanted to give too much away or flat-out lie.
Now let’s think about a character on canvas that might be forced into that type of situation. Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) has danger swirling all around him.
In the coming weeks, DOOL spoilers say Gabi DiMera (Camila Banus) will get pulled into that crisis. Days spoilers say Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) will also sink deeper into Jake’s trouble.
At some point, Jake might realize this is spiraling out of control. Since there’s a good chance Jake is actually Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash), that would mean he already faked his death once – with some help of course. Stefan might decide Jake has to “die” as well so he can get these thugs off his back.
That’d be a great story for Gabi, who’d feel like she was losing her love all over again. Gabi might fear that she’d truly lost Stefan forever. It’d be a fantastic setup for Stefan to secretly contact Gabi later and admit the whole story. Stefan could finally come clean and perhaps have a little secret romance with Gabi in hiding.
