Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) will thankfully make her way back to Salem. Since Gabi’s such a huge part of the show whenever she’s around, it’s already left a gaping hole without her.
Banus is an excellent leading lady who’s a real asset to Days, so it’s good to know she’ll be stepping back in Gabi’s shoes later this year.
Gabi’s return naturally leaves DOOL fans wondering one important thing: What’s next for Gabi and Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash)? It was a bummer for Jake and Gabi to surrender to their feelings for each other – only to have those sparks snuffed out.
Gabi’s departure pumped the brakes on what could’ve been an exciting new chapter for Gabi and Stefan DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) identical twin.
Fortunately, Days of Our Lives has a chance to continue Gabi and Jake’s love story, but don’t expect them to jump right into a solid relationship! There’ll be some bumps in the road as Jake and Gabi try to get back to where they were in terms of their feelings for each other.
Those familiar sparks will still be there, but Days will take their time and let Gabi’s romance with Jake develop organically.
Here’s what DOOL Head Writer Ron Carlivati had to say in a recent interview with SOD. Carlivati acknowledged Camila Banus’ upcoming return and what’s brewing in Gabi’s love life.
It sounds like things will get complicated, but the payoff for Jake and Gabi should be worth it in the end!
“So what’s kind of great about that is that there was huge investment in Gabi and Stefan, and thus, Gabi and Jake as his look-alike brother, and we didn’t get to delve too, too far into it but the audience has already seen those sparks are there,” Carlivati said.
He added that “they’re not just going to pick up where they left off because a lot of things have happened to Jake’s life in the meantime…”
Is Gabi’s biggest competition for Jake still Gwen Rizchech (Emily O’Brien)? Is there a chance new sparks will fly between Jake and Abigail DiMera (Camila Banus)?
It’s easy to see that Jake and Gabi want each other – at least it was the last time they were on screen together. However, it isn’t all that simple since Gabi pushed Jake away by pretending she didn’t really care about him.
Once the threat to the Hernandez family is gone and Gabi comes home, maybe Gabi can concentrate on making things right with Jake. Bottom line, it’ll be a slow journey back together, but Carlivati pointed to the “huge investment” in this duo. It’s obvious Jake and Gabi are going to be a hot couple of the future.
