Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers has some sad news to pass on about a former DOOL star. Kevin Dobson, who was one of the actors who portrayed Mickey Horton on the NBC soap over the years, has passed away at the age of 77. Kevin’s death was announced by the United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County, in an announcement on Facebook.
Kevin portrayed Mickey Horton on Days of Our Lives for 15 episodes in 2008, following portrayals by John Ingle (2004-2006), Richard Voigts (2004), and John Clarke (1965-2004).
However, Kevin was probably best known for his work on the primetime soap Knots Landing, on which he portrayed Mack MacKenzie, acting alongside Nicollette Sheridan, Ted Shackelford, and Michelle Lee.
Kevin was born on March 18, 1943 in Jackson Heights, New York. His first foray into acting included some uncredited appearances on The Doctors in 1969. From there, Kevin made several guest appearances on classic TV shows The Mod Squad, Cannon, and Emergency.
Then Kevin appeared regularly on Kojak from 1973-1978 along with Telly Savalas.
For his role as Mack MacKenzie on Knots Landing, Kevin won five Soap Opera Digest awards. He later reprised the role in the 1997 miniseries Knots Landing: Back To The Cul-De-Sac, and he appeared in Knots Landing Reunion: Together Again in 2005.
After that, Kevin appeared as a guest star in several popular TV dramas, including The Commish, Touched By An Angel, and Burke’s Law. More recently, Kevin appeared as a guest in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Hawaii Five-O, and Cold Case.
Kevin died of an apparent heart attack. He is survived by his wife Susan Dobson and their three children: Mariah, Patrick, and Sean.
Our deepest condolences go out to Kevin’s family at this time. Stay tuned to the NBC soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest Days of Our Lives spoilers, updates, and news.
