Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Kristian Alfonso wraps her run as Hope Brady on October 14, so many fans are certainly going to miss both the actress and the character.
Alfonso filmed her last scenes for Days of Our Lives back on March 13 before the shutdown, but she had no idea those would be her last scenes at the time.
A phone call during the extended break brought clarity about Alfonso’s future and the decision she felt was right for her. Days Executive Producer Ken Corday offered updates on the story DOOL Head Writer Ron Carlivati had in mind for Hope, which Alfonso actually found rather exciting.
Alfonso was intrigued, but the catch was Hope would be written out for a few months first.
In the end, Alfonso decided it was time to walk away entirely, so she never returned to film her remaining scripts. Alfonso did, however, return to the studio to clean out her dressing room in late July – and that brought a strange, emotional experience.
The departing Days star opened up about that experience in a heartfelt and honest interview with Glamour.
“It was eerie,” Alfonso admitted. “My husband had come with me, and when we got into the car, our eyes met, and I looked at him and said, ‘Don’t ask me any questions.’ My emotions were right there at the surface.”
Alfonso knew she had to do what needed to be done, but cleaning out her dressing room was still tough.
Even so, Alfonso revealed that she’s content with her decision to walk away and doesn’t have any hard feelings about how it all went down. Instead, Alfonso seems grateful for the memories and will undoubtedly keep those close to her heart forever.
“There were so many incredible life moments that took place and happened while I was a part of the Days of Our Lives and NBC family,” Alfonso said. She also talked about how if she could go back in time and give a younger version of herself some advice, she’d thank herself for taking the risk at DOOL.
Alfonso would tell herself about the “incredible journey” that would leave such gratitude in her heart.
Of course, fans are certainly grateful for Alfonso’s impressive work at Days. It’s hard to say goodbye, but Alfonso leaves behind scenes she can be proud of – including the ones in her final episode on October 14. We’ll offer updates as other DOOL news rolls in.
