Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Kristian Alfonso’s (Hope Brady) final episode is set to air in October, but will that really be the end of the road? Days Executive Producer Ken Corday is holding out hope that Alfonso might change her mind at some point.
In an interview with EW.com, Corday talked about Alfonso’s decision to abruptly leave the show and revealed his thoughts on the situation.
For starters, Corday admitted he was “dismayed” by Alfonso’s choice to walk away. Days of Our Lives actually had a major storyline planned for Hope, but Alfonso didn’t approve of what came before it. When Alfonso was asked to step away from the role for a few months, she opted to exit entirely instead.
“In order to launch a new story – and we had a great story for her, we still do – I needed her off-camera for three or four months,” Corday said. “During that time, something very interesting happens so she comes back to Salem with a secret. It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.”
Since Corday suggested they still have a great story for Alfonso, he’s leaving the door wide open in case she wants to come back and take advantage of it. However, that’s not something Corday or anyone else at Days can decide.
At this point, Alfonso has to determine for herself if she’ll ever consider making a DOOL comeback. “That’s up to Kristian,” Corday said about the possibility of Alfonso’s return.
We should note that Alfonso previously said she’d never come back to Days, but it wouldn’t be the first time a soap star made a public declaration like that and had a change of heart.
Nobody can predict the future, so you never know if Alfonso might pop back up someday. It might even be something Alfonso’s willing to do in a couple years. People cool off…new deals can be made…things change… It’ll be interesting to see how all this plays out, but Alfonso’s officially done at Days for now.
Alfonso still had scripts left to shoot when she made the decision not to return, so those scripts will have to be changed. No exit was filmed, so Hope won’t have any kind of onscreen wrap-up. That means Hope will simply stop appearing, and another character will have to explain where she went later.
