Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, August 24, reveal that Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) sat in Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) and John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) penthouse talking to Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) baby.
Sami hoped that John would be ok and that no one would find out what she did. Soon, Belle Black (Martha Madison) arrived to say that Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) and Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) had requested an emergency hearing that afternoon to fight Sami’s restraining order.
Talk soon turned to John’s condition, and Belle reported that John had a seizure but that he’s stable now. Sami decided to go to the hospital to be with Marlena, while Belle stayed with the baby and prepared for court.
Over at the hospital, Nicole and Eric talked with Marlena at the nurses’ station and learned about John’s seizure. Marlena said that seizures weren’t uncommon after brain surgery.
Brady said that John’s aneurysm must have happened right after he and Nicole left the penthouse. Nicole said that John had walked in on a fight between her and Sami, and Marlena reported that Sami said she had a “civilized” talk with John before the aneurysm happened.
Marlena shared that she thought the baby should be with Eric and Nicole, and Nicole wondered if Marlena would share that in a statement to the court.
Marlena thought she was too frazzled to do that, and Eric told her not to worry about it. Marlena and Eric headed to the chapel to pray, leaving Nicole there alone. Soon, Sami walked in and bickered with Nicole in typical fashion.
After a lot of snarking in both directions, the argument turned physical and Nicole and Sami started shoving each other.
Over in the chapel Marlena and Eric prayed together, and Marlena asked Eric what Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) thought about their chances of winning the hearing. Marlena just wanted a good outcome for everyone.
Eric left the chapel and returned to the nurses’ station, where he broke up the altercation between Sami and Nicole. Sami took off for the chapel, and Eric decided to go check on Belle.
Back in the chapel, Sami entered to find Marlena crying. Sami tearfully told her mother that what happened to John was all her fault. Just then, Nicole appeared at the doorway and started eavesdropping on Sami and Marlena’s conversation.
Sami recounted how she and John were arguing fiercely right before he clutched his head and collapsed, and she confessed to Marlena how she yelled at John and told him he was nothing to Allie and her grandson. Sami apologized and cried, saying that everything was her fault. Nicole left.
Finally, Marlena got a word in edgewise and told Sami that none of this was her fault, and that she did not cause John’s collapse. Marlena explained that aneurysms are caused by blood vessel defects and that this could have happened even if Sami wasn’t there.
Sami was relieved, and she told Marlena that John was going to be ok.
Back at the penthouse, Belle spoke softly to the baby, saying that her baby had gone through something similar years ago when Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) and Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) fought over her.
Soon, Eric arrived to see how Belle was doing after what happened to John. Eric suggested postponing the hearing that afternoon, but Belle said that they would have to go forward and the judge would decide now.
Nicole arrived, and she walked in and told Belle that she might want to rethink representing Sami. Belle wondered what Sami had done now, and Nicole said that it was about what Sami did to John.
At the police station, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) told Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) that an employee at the Sleep Tight Motel had recognized photos of Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) and Vincent (Michael Teh), and that they were staying at the motel.
Hope and Rafe took off. Meanwhile, over at the motel, Eve looked at a photo of her daughter Paige Larson (True O’Brien) and cried, saying that “the SOB who took you from me will have the worst day of his life.”
Later, Rafe and Hope showed up at the hotel, but neither Vincent nor Eve were there. Hope quickly surmised that Eve would be back, since the box of Paige’s belongings were in Eve’s hotel room, and Eve would never leave those behind.
At the Salem Inn, Ciara Weston (Victoria Konefal) walked into the room she shares with Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson). Ben was sitting at the desk holding a necktie, while Vincent hid in the room.
Ciara didn’t see Vincent, and he slipped out the door while Ciara’s back was turned. Ben told Ciara that he didn’t have his session with Marlena because of John, and he told Ciara that if he wants to get past this once and for all, he knows what he has to do.
Ciara wondered what that might be, and Ben said that he needed to come to terms with his past, or he wouldn’t have much of a future. Ben then said that he needed a distraction, so Ciara should get dressed up and he’d give her a night she’ll never forget. “Ok, where are we going?” Ciara asked. “It’s a surprise,” Ben said.
Later, as Ciara was in the shower, Hope called Ben to say that they had found where Eve and Vincent had been hiding out, and that Ben and Ciara should stay inside the Salem Inn until Eve and Vincent were caught.
Ben agreed, then Ciara returned and asked who had been on the phone. Ben said it was a robocall, and he and Ciara left.
Back at the Sleep Tight Motel, Rafe got emotional as he looked at Paige’s things, and he noted that he and Paige had the same father, but that he didn’t know it until after she was gone.
Rafe lamented about his father Eduardo Hernandez (A Martinez), who ran out on Eve and Paige just like he did Rafe’s family. Hope comforted Rafe, telling him that a lot of people look up to him, including her. “Really, after everything we’ve been through?” Rafe asked. “You still mean the world to me,” Hope admitted, and Rafe and Hope kissed.
At the cemetery, Eve visited Paige’s gravesite, talking softly to her daughter. Vincent came up and startled Eve, then informed her that he gave Ben the final instructions and that Ben was now completely programmed. “I own him now,” Vincent said.
“He’ll destroy Ciara soon and ultimately himself.” Eve was happy, and she thanked Vincent for all his help. Vincent admitted that he did it for the money and for the satisfaction of seeing Ben suffer.
Vincent took off, and Eve stayed at Paige’s grave. Eve talked to Paige about how she should be here living her life, and Eve said that she’d give anything to see Paige again. Suddenly, Eve heard a voice behind her saying, “Here I am.” Eve turned around and saw Paige standing there.
At Paige’s abandoned dorm room, Ben and Ciara arrived. Ciara questioned why they had gotten dressed up to come there, and Ben told her to guess. Ciara guessed a couple things, then admitted that she had no idea why Ben brought her here.
“This is the room where I strangled Paige Larson,” Ben said. “Oh my God, Ben, why would you want to bring me here?” Ciara asked.
