Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that more casting shakeups may be brewing at the NBC soap. DOOL viewers may have heard about Galen Gering’s (Rafe Hernandez) recent firing. On The Cliff Dorfman podcast, Gering admitted that he’s back following the hiatus to wrap things up for his character. He noted that he still had a couple weeks of episodes to shoot before he was out.
Gering may return one day, but Rafe is indeed headed off canvas. Naturally, that’s made some Days fans nervous about other possible cuts. The truth is it’s an uncertain time at Days of Our Lives.
DOOL’s cast members were released from their contracts before the hiatus, so now decisions have to be made about who signs a new contract, who’s on recurring and who gets written out completely.
Days isn’t exactly rolling in the dough, so they may be making some tough choices about who stays and who goes. There’s no need to panic since a good chunk of the cast will undoubtedly stick around.
Nevertheless, Days of Our Lives insiders reveal that there WILL be additional cuts. How many is not yet known, but just know that other exit announcements are probably on the way.
Of course, plenty of Days stars have been happily posting videos from set. They’re glad to be back – and most of them are back for good! Others may unfortunately just be there to wrap things up like Gering.
After all, it’s a little jarring if a character simply disappears. The writers need a chance to deliver some goodbye scenes and at least create a job offer or a sick relative somewhere.
Bottom line, you shouldn’t expect a casting cut bloodbath. They’re not going to fire a ton of people and certainly not their hottest performers. Actors playing less popular characters might be at a higher risk of exiting.
Those who play characters the show doesn’t know what to do with could be in jeopardy, too. It’s all about the canvas as a whole and what will benefit the show most.
