Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that some stunning moments are coming up in Salem. A blackout will leave Salem in darkness and will put some dark characters back in the mix as a result. We want to talk about the reason for this citywide power outage and then offer a preview of what to expect when the lights go out.
The postponed Olympics created a bit of a problem for Days since it meant the show was suddenly way ahead of schedule. DOOL’s skipped preemptions would’ve made it so Salem was celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas ridiculously early, so it wouldn’t have made much sense.
The show already had the holiday scripts written, so Days Head Writer Ron Carlivati proposed a way to fix things.
“I pitched that we insert some shows into October that would put everything back on track,” Carlivati told SOD. “We had to come up with a mini-storyline that didn’t feel too jarring for the audience, that fit in, and when it ended, all the holidays and dates were back in place.”
Carlivati went on to say that there’s “sort of seven- or eight-day incident that happens in Salem that was not there originally,” but he was quick to add that it doesn’t fill like filler to him.
It’s a “fun little story” and will include some familiar faces, so now you know why a random blackout will disrupt so many lives in Salem.
That blackout is the incident that will begin this arc during the week of October 19-23. As far as the returning characters who’ll be in the mix, Days of Our Lives spoilers say Orpheus (George DeHoyo) and Clyde Weston (James Read) will pop up again.
So will Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay), so we’ll have several villains on the loose during this chaotic story.
Since Clyde and Orpheus will be teaming up, it’s possible they’ll cause the blackout somehow. Then again, maybe they’ll just take advantage of the opportunity to make their getaway and wreak havoc.
There’ll be some deadly danger – even when it comes to Dr. Rolf’s great escape. Dr. Rolf and Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) faceoff will definitely take a perilous turn.
As for Orpheus, he’ll naturally drag John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) into drama. Clyde will pay Ben Weston (Robert Scott) a visit and put his son in a tough situation, but it looks like Clyde will actually help Ben work through one of his own.
Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) will also use this as her chance to stir up some trouble, so look for her to catch Belle Black (Martha Madison) off guard when she sneaks in the house.
Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) will face some troubles of his own as Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) and Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) get too close for comfort during this blackout!
Days of Our Lives spoilers say there’ll also be a surprising predicament for Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), so it’ll be interesting to see what she’s up against. Basically, this blackout will launch a wild arc that’s filled with all kinds of unexpected drama.
It’ll still tie in with the usual action, but it’ll really be its own separate story and a way to make sure the holidays arrive right on time.
All of this should build to the Halloween episode, so it may turn out to be a dream or some kind of fake-out. Regardless, there’ll be a ton of bombshells happening that should be entertaining to watch. As other Days news comes in, we’ll bring you updates.
