Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that it’s time to start thinking about Sami Brady DiMera’s (Alison Sweeney) romantic future. Sami will arrive back in Salem before you know it – and she’ll be staying in town through most of 2021. That obviously gives Days writers plenty of time to write a romance for Sami if they choose to.
Naturally, Sami’s always a busy gal when she returns to town. There’s always a chance Sami will keep herself occupied with family drama and whatever schemes she cooks up. However, this lengthy stint does bring a good opportunity for love. The question is: Who should Sami be with?
Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) is an ex that Sami sometimes drifts back to, but Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) may be his next pairing. There are some hints that point in the direction of Nicole and Rafe’s flying sparks, so we should consider other options for Sami.
The two we’re left with are an EJ DiMera recast or Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo).
James Scott has confirmed that he has no interest in returning to Days of Our Lives. Although Scott was a fan favorite who’s still missed to this day, he’s adamant that a DOOL comeback isn’t happening. It’s time to let that dream go and focus on EJ’s potential future, which can only happen if a recast comes along.
Could EJ eventually follow Sami home to Salem? If EJ’s recovery goes well in Italy, he just might! It’d be great for EJ to hit town again and shake things up with Sami by his side.
Even with a brand-new face, EJ could hopefully recapture his fanbase and bring some hot drama to Salem.
Of course, Bryan Dattilo was featured on his own in DOOL’s 55th anniversary cast photo. Since Days of Our Lives hasn’t revealed any love interest plans for Lucas yet, it’s possible Sami and Lucas will reunite.
If EJ faces another setback and Sami fears he’s never going to get better, it’s easy to imagine her surrendering to temptation with Lucas.
That’s especially true since Lucas and Sami tend to bond over their daughter, Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold). Allie’s dealing with a lot due to the assault in London as well as Tripp Dalton’s (Lucas Adams) denial.
There’ll be ways for Sami and Lucas to reconnect as they battle concerns about Allie, particularly once the real attacker is revealed.
Bottom line, Days has two excellent romantic paths for Sami’s next stint. Are you rooting for “EJami” or “Lumi”? Should Sami’s future still be with EJ, even if it’s in the form of a recast?
