Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) isn’t responsible for the crash that killed Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans) and Sarah Horton’s (Linsey Godfrey) baby. Some big secrets are set to be revealed about that fateful Mother’s Day, so let’s consider what we know so far.
For starters, Maggie doesn’t even remember taking the first sip of booze that night – and DOOL’s weekly promo shows us why. A man can be seen chloroforming Maggie just before she takes a drink. Zoey Burge (Alyshia Ochse) is also ready to tell Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) the truth about what really happened last Mother’s Day, so this obviously ties in with the secret her brother revealed.
Evan Frears aka Christian Maddox (Brock Kelly) told Zoey something that was more horrible than she could’ve imagined. Days viewers heard recap Evan recap a few details – like how Orpheus (George DelHoyo) pressured him into it. Orpheus felt Evan owed him for helping out with all the Jordan Ridgeway (Chrishell Hartley) drama.
Evan clearly helped Orpheus frame Maggie for that accident, but how will Days fix this puzzle together? Why did Orpheus and Evan frame Maggie for causing the crash? Orpheus had some illegal business dealing with Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) back in the ‘80s, but there doesn’t seem to be anything lately that he’d want to target Victor over.
Orpheus is usually focused on John Black (Drake Hogestyn), Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) and those closest to them – plus, anyone that gets in Orpheus’ way! Of course, it’s tough to think of any grudge Orpheus would have against Maggie either.
Still, there must be reason Orpheus and Evan specifically framed Maggie. To pay someone a visit in their home and chloroform them is a lot of extra effort. After all, Orpheus could’ve just picked any old person off the street and stuck them in a car with an empty booze bottle. It seems the goal wasn’t just a cover-up; it was about targeting Maggie.
Let’s consider what Maggie was doing that night: She was about to fall off the wagon. Although Maggie doesn’t remember taking a drink, she assumes she must’ve. That’s because bitter Summer Townsend was there taunting Maggie – blaming her mother for all her issues and encouraging her to drink again.
Summer revealed she only had a few months to live due to cirrhosis of the liver, so she was clearly on a mission to make Maggie suffer. Was Orpheus part of the plan? What if Summer’s stop at the Kiriakis mansion was just a setup for what Orpheus and Evan would do later?
In other words, Summer might’ve been in cahoots with Orpheus for some reason. Days of Our Lives fans really don’t know a ton about Summer’s background – and she’d been offscreen doing who knows what else besides drinking since 2016. Summer’s always been a con woman who runs in shady circles, so she wouldn’t have had a problem forming an alliance with a criminal like Orpheus.
It’s possible Summer and Orpheus had a mutually beneficial agreement of some sort. From the sound of things, Evan just got caught up in all this because his dad pushed him to. Summer might’ve been the mastermind who sought Orpheus’ help and offered something in return. It seems like Summer would have more of a motive to hurt Maggie than anyone.
Then again, Summer indeed ran cons. Who can be sure that any of what she said to Maggie was true? It was awfully weird for Summer to just pop up out of the blue like that anyway. Maybe it was the other way around and Orpheus recruited Summer instead. DOOL would still have to come up with a good motive for Orpheus, but they could pull it off.
Regardless, perhaps it’s not a coincidence that Summer, Orpheus and Evan are all part of the Mother’s Day drama. We’ll give you updates as other DOOL news rolls in.
