Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 9, reveal that Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) sat with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) at the restaurant in town square. Lucas was feeling worried about Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) and the baby, and Kate tried to get him calmed down, but Lucas was very concerned about the complications of Allie giving her baby to Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith).
As Kate and Lucas were talking, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) came up and overheard, then shared that Allie had asked him to adopt her baby. Lucas was astounded, and Rafe said that he hadn’t made a decision yet – it was a lot to think about given that he just recently lost David Ridgeway (Kyler Ends). Rafe learned about Sonny and Will wanting to adopt the baby, which was news to him.
Rafe stepped away, and Lucas got on his phone to call Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), but Kate stopped him, saying that he could alienate Allie by doing that. Kate noted that Allie was a lot like her mother – passionate, fierce, and unforgiving. Lucas sighed, knowing that his mother was right.
At the Brady Pub, Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), and Allie walked in and Allie wanted to leave upon seeing John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) there. Marlena said that it seemed like Allie had been avoiding them, and Allie said that she had, and she promptly unzipped her hoodie to reveal her pregnant belly. Marlena expressed gentle concern for Allie, and she was quite surprised to learn that Allie wanted to give her baby up for adoption.
Allie said that Eric thought adoption was a “terrible idea,” and Eric corrected her, saying that he simply thought it was a big decision. Marlena asked if Sami knew that Allie was pregnant, and Allie said no, and that Sami wasn’t going to find out because she’d make things worse. Marlena thought that wasn’t a fair assumption. Eric and Nicole stepped away, and Marlena and John tried to get Allie to see that Sami was going to find out about the baby one way or another.
Allie insisted that she didn’t want a circus for her baby, like how she was raised, and that she wanted sanity, calm, and peace for her baby. Marlena and John told Allie that it was her decision whether to tell Sami. Allie then revealed that she asked Rafe to adopt her baby, and Marlena pointed out that this could be very complicated. Allie made a smart comment, and Marlena chastised her, then told her that she needed her family’s support. Marlena and Allie hugged.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Will told Sonny that he was going to go check on Allie and see what she’s thinking. Will went to Nicole and Eric’s apartment and found Rafe there knocking on the door, but no one was there. Will said that they needed to talk, and he proceeded to tell Rafe that whatever Rafe decided about the baby was ok with him and Sonny. Will and Rafe left together.
In a room above the Brady Pub, Nicole and Eric talked about their upcoming wedding. Nicole wondered if Eric wanted to get married somewhere else other than the pub, but Eric said that having the wedding there was perfect. Nicole and Eric kissed happily.
At the cemetery, Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) called Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) by Adrienne Kiriakis’ (Judi Evans) name. Bonnie tried to interject that she was Bonnie, but Justin kissed her. Bonnie sort of kissed back, then pulled away from the kiss. Bonnie explained that her publicist wanted her to look more conservative for her book tour, and that’s why she looked like Adrienne.
Turns out, Bonnie’s book, called “Love Made Me Looney,” just came out in paperback, and she had come back to Salem to pay her respects to Adrienne. Justin blew up, yelling at Bonnie for putting Adrienne through hell when she kidnapped her. Justin shared what he had just been through, and Bonnie said she was sorry, but she thought that Justin should have kept his mouth shut so he could be happy with Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans).
Then Bonnie said that it wouldn’t have mattered, because super couples always end up together, then she rattled off super couples – Patch and Kayla, John and Marlena, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves), and herself and Lucas. Justin balked, saying that Bonnie had tried to pimp her own grandchild out as Lucas’ daughter. Bonnie responded that she and Lucas had a “journey” ahead of them. Bonnie exited.
Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Justin returned and spoke briefly with Sonny. Sonny retired for the evening, and Justin went into the living room and pulled Kayla’s bouquet out of the trash can and looked at it sadly.
Back in town square, Bonnie saw Lucas sitting at the restaurant, then fantasized about him being happy to see her and kissing her. Bonnie just snapped out of it, then said to herself, “it could happen!”
At the airport, Kayla asked Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) what he was doing there – she thought he had boarded the plane. Steve said he had changed his mind. Steve assumed that Kayla was there with Justin to leave for their honeymoon, but Kayla explained that there wasn’t a wedding and that Justin had stopped the wedding. Kayla demanded to know why Steve didn’t tell her how he really felt.
Steve tried to explain that he couldn’t leave and just walk away. “I love you too much,” Steve said, prompting Kayla to slap him. Kayla was very upset about what Justin was going through, and about how everyone knew how Steve felt but her. Steve apologized, then realized that Kayla was at the airport to stop him from leaving because she still loved him.
Kayla said that she’ll always love Steve, but that she’s not happy about it. Kayla sat down, and Steve sat down next to her. Kayla stated that she was so mad at Steve right now, but that she couldn’t become Justin’s wife the minute she knew that Steve still loved her. “I do love you,” Steve said, and he and Kayla hugged. “I love you, all the days of our lives,” Steve said.
After their embrace, Kayla asked, “What now?” Steve said that he had an idea, and that they should get on a plane and go somewhere so they could be alone. “What do you say?” Steve said. “I say yes,” Kayla said, and she and Steve kissed happily.
