Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, June 4, reveal that Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) stopped by the Hernandez house to see Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). Hope quickly learned that Zoey Burge (Alyshia Ochse) is still suing Rafe for custody of David Ridgeway (Kyler Ends). Hope offered to testify, realizing that Zoey is probably going to blame her for the gun discharging at the warehouse.
Hope vowed to have Rafe’s back, and Rafe went to change clothes. Hope told him to wear the navy suit she got him a few years ago. Rafe told Hope that he was glad she was in his corner. Rafe asked about Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal), and Hope vowed to tell the judge what a good stepfather Rafe had been to her.
At the prison, Zoey intended to visit Evan Frears aka Christian Maddox (Brock Kelly) but got Orpheus (George DelHoyo) instead. Zoey scoffed, and Orpheus said that he had some things to say to her.
The two argued, with Zoey calling Orpheus an inept criminal and Orpheus telling Zoey that she’d lose custody of David because she was a bad lawyer. Orpheus told Zoey that she’d better be back with good news about David.
In town square, Lani Price (Sal Stowers), Eli Grant (Lamon Archey), Abe Carver (James Reynolds), and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) sat down to lunch, and Eli and Lani announced their engagement.
Julie and Abe were thrilled, but each assumed that they’d perform the ceremony. As it turned out, Eli and Lani wanted Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) to perform the ceremony, with Abe walking Lani down the aisle.
Abe and Julie understood, and Julie ordered champagne with four glasses. Lani said they’d better make it three glasses, since she’s expecting. Abe and Julie were thrilled, and Julie soon acknowledged that Lani might be a little worried, which Lani said that she was after losing David Abraham Grant. Julie comforted Lani and gave her encouragement.
Later, Eli and Lani spoke alone and Lani noted that Julie seemed to understand her fear about her pregnancy. Lani and Eli happily reveled in their upcoming plans and their family on the way, and they kissed happily.
At the hospital, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) found Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nichols) note in her pocket and read it through. Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) was there looking for Marlena, and she noticed Kayla’s ring.
Jennifer was shocked, and she wondered if the ring was from Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth). Jennifer heard the whole story about Justin and Steve’s note, and she wondered if marrying Justin was what Kayla really wanted.
Kayla insisted that it was, and eventually Jennifer dropped it and said that she was happy for Kayla. Jennifer and Kayla joked a bit about a bridal shower, then Jennifer took off and Kayla got a call from Justin saying he wouldn’t be able to join her for lunch. Kayla decided to head to the pub for something to eat on her own.
At the pub, Steve sat drinking alone at the bar. Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) walked in and surveyed the scene, then he approached Steve, who was standoffish.
Steve revealed that Kayla and Justin were getting married, and Jack heard the whole story about Justin’s proposal and Steve’s note wishing Kayla well. Jack thought that Steve should tell Kayla how he really feels. Steve refused and kept drinking.
Jack noted that Steve was doing Kayla’s thinking for her, and that he needed to let her make her own decision about her life. Jack tried to get through to his brother in a very Jack-like way, but Steve wouldn’t budge, and he told Jack to leave him be. Reluctantly, Jack left after Steve told him he was a good brother, albeit a weird one.
At the DiMera mansion, Jack and Jennifer met up, and they compared notes about their respective visits with Steve and Kayla. Jack told Jennifer that Steve’s little note to Kayla was bull.
Meanwhile, back at the pub, a drunk Steve tried to throw darts, then sat back down clumsily at the bar. Steve kept drinking, and he eventually turned around to see Kayla, who had just walked in the pub.
Outside the pub, Zoey encountered Hope and Rafe on their way to the custody hearing. Zoey mused that she just got notification that Hope was going to testify at the hearing. “Good luck explaining to the judge what really happened in that warehouse,” Hope said. Zoey fired back that Hope was responsible for the gun going off.
Zoey promised to rip Hope apart on the stand, and Rafe balked, saying that Zoey talked big before Evan’s trial, and look what happened there. Zoey said they’d see who had the last laugh, and she walked off, while Hope noted that she had just threatened the wrong person. Rafe and Hope walked away.
