Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that the big baby swap secret will get one step closer to being revealed as the action heats up on the NBC soap. The new DOOL promo for the week of March 9th is all about the unraveling of Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) and Xander Kiriakis’ (Paul Telfer) plot to pass off one baby for another and deceive two unsuspecting couples. There will be a lot of action this week, so let’s get right into it!
As DOOL viewers know, baby Mackenzie “Mickey” Horton has been battling a form of childhood cancer, which has been a huge ordeal for her parents Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) and Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey).
They finally found a bone marrow match in Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus), so it looks like Mickey’s life will be saved, assuming the bone marrow transplant is a success. That’s one disaster averted, but there will be more on the way.
While Eric and Sarah have been waiting and worrying over Mickey’s condition, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) have been doing their best to move on with life as a couple while they continue to mourn the death of their daughter Rachel Black.
Baby Rachel was born the same night as Mickey, and as DOOL viewers know, she’s actually the baby who survived. Victor and Xander, with the help of Dr. Raynor (Victoria Platt), switched babies in the nursery shortly after the real Mickey died.
Victor and Xander’s motive was simple – protect Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers). They knew that Maggie is the one who caused the car accident that Sarah and Adrienne Kiriakis (Judi Evans) were involved in, and they surmised that the accident must have caused harm to the real baby Mickey and caused her death.
Both Victor and Xander love Maggie and want to protect her from knowing that her actions got her granddaughter killed. Well, during the week of March 9th, the secret will start to unravel, as Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) learns a crucial detail that could blow the baby swap secret wide open.
It will start when Kristen and Brady are reminiscing about Rachel, and Kristen admits that her memory of what Rachel looked like is fading. Brady will tell her that Rachel had a birthmark on her neck, and he’ll repeat this detail to Nicole, who will come along moments later.
So armed with the knowledge that baby Rachel had a birthmark on her neck, Nicole will see something that shocks her. Nicole’s shown in the new DOOL promo with Eric and baby Mickey, and in the promo she looks at the baby and says, “What’s that on her neck?”
Nicole then has a reaction to seeing what must be the birthmark on the baby’s neck. And from there, it looks like Nicole will start to put two and two together.
DOOL viewers will remember that Nicole has also seen Xander and Dr. Raynor in tense conversations at the hospital, and she’s recently learned that Dr. Raynor was Kristen’s physician when she gave birth to Rachel.
It looks like once Nicole sees the birthmark on Mickey’s neck, it won’t be long before she realizes that Mickey is actually Rachel, and she’ll probably realize that Xander and Dr. Raynor are in this knee-deep.
Of course, what Nicole will do from there remains to be seen. She might keep quiet for the time being and try to get proof before she spills her suspicions to Eric. Then again, given her history of keeping baby secrets and all the pain that caused, she might just come right out and tell Eric what she’s thinking might have happened.
Nicole will know that if what she suspects is true (which it is), then Eric will be completely devastated because it will mean that his daughter with Sarah was actually the baby who died.
