Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Cady McClain will take over the role of Jennifer Deveraux from Melissa Reeves down the road. McClain’s already filming, so her first airdate’s coming up later this fall.
Naturally, many Days fans are curious about what McClain’s version of Jennifer will be up to – and perhaps why DOOL chose to recast instead of writing Jennifer out.
Reeves decided not to return when the show resumed production, which left DOOL in a jam since a major Deveraux family story’s coming up. JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) is returning this fall – and we know Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) is plotting to rob Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) of everything she holds dear.
Jennifer and Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) are going to be a huge part of the drama coming up for their kids. In fact, Gwen and Abby’s storyline could lead to the one Days Head Writer Ron Carlivati promised for Jack and Jenn.
On Twitter, Carlivati assured viewers that Jennifer and Jack have a hot plot headed their way this autumn, so Gwen may kick that off.
Days of Our Lives buzz say Gwen just might be Abigail’s half-sister and Jack’s long-lost daughter, so that’s definitely something Jennifer needs to be around for. If Gwen’s going to be revealed as another child of Jack’s, we need to see Jenn’s reaction!
That’s why it was so crucial to bring in a recast instead of just sending Jennifer off to visit her mom or giving her some other abrupt exit.
Thankfully, Days of Our Lives was able to snatch up soap vet Cady McClain, who knows how to deliver a great performance. McClain could wind up plopped into family chaos fairly quickly, so she could get some dramatic material right off the back.
Since Jennifer is an investigative reporter who knows how to follow a trail, she might figure out what Gwen’s up to. Jennifer might even start digging into Gwen’s background in hopes of exposing her.
That’s the kind of thing that could land Jennifer in grave danger. Gwen’s determined to bring Abigail down no matter what, so she certainly won’t let Jennifer stand in her way.
If Gwen is indeed Jack’s daughter, that’s something that Jack and Jennifer will have to deal with, too. It could lead to some strain in their marriage if Jack ends up wanting to bond with Gwen despite her transgressions.
Bottom line, there’ll be plenty for Jennifer to do this fall and beyond, so it’s easy to see why McClain came on board after Reeves declined!
