A NYPD police officer was murdered. He was shot and killed as he was making a routine traffic stop. Officer Sanchez didn’t turn on his body cam until he got close to driver. However, it was clear he recognized the passenger and he tried to pull his gun. He was shot before he could get a bullet off. Officer Sanchez died because the car he pulled over was carrying Antonio Vargas. Vargas was head of the Durango Cartel and he was notorious. He was responsible for about a third of drugs coming out Mexico and he was wanted by everyone. The FBI wanted him because he was responsibly for the torture and murder of one of their own. They therefore were ecstatic when they saw him in the body cam footage.

There was also a witness. The witness called 911 after he heard the gunshots and, while it was too late to save Officer Sanchez, it was useful in other ways. The witness saw the car. It was a black sedan and the first three letters of the license plate read KFC just like the restaurant. The FBI was put on this case. They were able to track down the car with its unique license plate and it led to the warehouses. The FBI believes Vargas was in hiding. They went to the warehouses and they used cameras that read body heat to find the building where Vargas was hiding. The FBI and Jubal’s team moved on this building, but there was a risk because it was boobytrapped and there was plenty of explosives around.

Only the team found Vargas. They found him and arrested him. They brought Vargas back to the FBI building where they thought it would be safe and it turns out Vargas has a backup plan. His own foot soldiers carried out this backup plan when they saw that Vargas was arrested. The foot soldiers kidnapped an FBI Special Agent and they fitted her with a collar bomb. Something they claimed that Vargas could detonate at any minute. The bomb was also on a timer and it would go off the second it hits zero. These people released the woman back into the FBI building. She was told to walk into the lobby or she would die. They released her like that because their message was clear. They were saying either Vargas was released or the building plus Elise would go up in smoke.

The building had needed to evacuated. Stuart chose to stay behind because he knew Elise and he didn’t want her to potentially die alone. He chose to stay with her. He kept her company as the team tried to find out how Vargas was doing all of this and also how to stop him. They needed to find his soldiers. Elise gave them details. She mentioned one of them held her hands and the other put the collar on. She also said she didn’t notice anything until a gun was put in her back. So, the team tried to investigate it and it was hard. There was only two of the analysists working back at the office because the building had been cleared and so it was just a handful of people and Vargas that was still inside.

The Special Agent in Charge had also stayed behind. She continued to interrogate Vargas and he told her how she could solve things. He told her that she needed to free him. He said she had the power and she doesn’t. She can’t make a decision like that. Not when the rules say that they don’t give in to terrorists and that’s what Vargas is. He’s a terrorist. He killed an FBI Agent once before. He was even willing to do it again today and so they had to stop him. They tried tracking down Vargas’s men who had a detonator on them. They even tried appealing to Vargas’s better nature and there is no better nature. The man even threw dirt on the agent he killed by claiming the man was dirty.

Castille didn’t believe him. She knew the Agent he killed and she therefore knew he was a good man. Too good to ever take a bribe from someone like Vargas. Castille figured he was lying and she set about proving it. Castille asked Jubal to look into the late Miller for her. She t that if he could lie about those things then he was never going to let Elise go and this was just to prove it. This would show that there’s nothing she can do. Castille spoke with her bosses and they were unwilling to let go Vargas. If Vargas is released, he’ll go on to kill thousands and the life of thousands vs the life of Elise was an easy choice for the FBI. They were prepared to let her die. The woman herself must have realized it as well because she called her daughter and she said goodbye without frightening the little girl.

The team however continued with their leads. They found the soldiers and they tried to convince to do the right thing, but neither will help nor could they. They said their families back home will be killed if Vargas wasn’t released and anyways they only had a detonator. They didn’t know how to stop the bomb. The only one who does know is Vargas. Vargas was also right about Miller and so Castille took a risk. She released Vargas. She asked that no one follow him and he lived up to his word. He sent the code to free Elise the moment he was safe. Castille put the code in herself and thankfully both she and Elise get to survive physically. And career wise, Castille knew she was going to be fired.

Her bosses even left it to her to face the questions on why Vargas was released. Everyone was wondering why he got to walk after taking part in Officer Sanchez’s murder and all she could say is that Vargas will be apprehended one day soon.

THE END!
