General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the character of Dev Cerci aka Dev Corbin (Ashton Arbab) has taken a bit of a turn over the past few episodes. As GH viewers know, Dev passed up Josslyn Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) advances earlier this year, saying that he just didn’t feel that way about her and totally rejecting her attempt to kiss him.
But recently, when Josslyn and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) became interested in each other, Dev decided that he wanted Josslyn.
Unfortunately for Dev, Josslyn seems to be really into Cameron now, but Dev’s got some intel that he’s using to his advantage – Dev knows that Cameron is currently conflicted in his feelings for Josslyn and Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla).
Cameron feels something for both Trina and Josslyn, and so he’s vulnerable and an emotional mess. Dev’s turned sneaky and has started pushing Cameron away from Josslyn and towards Trina.
In his latest move, Dev forged an entry in Josslyn’s journal, then he made sure that Cameron saw the entry, which purported that Josslyn didn’t appreciate Cameron’s kiss at the homecoming dance, calling it “sloppy” and wishing that Cameron didn’t feel that way about her.
Cameron was, of course, devastated by Josslyn’s supposed feelings, and now Dev stands to get exactly what he wants, which is for Cameron to be with Trina so that Dev can have Josslyn.
Of course, this is a relatively small manipulation by soap standards, where paternity switches and things like forced memory mapping occur on a seemingly regular basis. But could this be the beginning of new path for Dev – one of conniving and deception that extends far beyond trying to get together with the girl of his dreams?
At one point, Dev desperately wanted to be a part of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) organization, but he was ultimately content signing on for high school in Port Charles.
Of course, Dev didn’t really have much choice – Sonny and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) basically insisted that Dev settle down into a normal routine, so as to avoid suspicion about the fact that he’s in the country illegally.
Dev’s got a lot of street smarts from his days back in Turkey, and he’s probably going to end up being pretty good at manipulating Josslyn, Cameron, and Trina. And once Dev’s gotten away with some manipulation to get what he wants, it probably won’t be long before he’s doing some more scheming.
Could we see Dev take a turn into more of a villain type role? Dev’s got a real “gee, shucks” quality to him, but underlying it seems to be a manipulative schemer, and that could get interesting.
And let’s face it, unless Dev takes a turn and starts causing some problems, there’s probably not going to be much for the character to do. Dev was pretty much absent for most of the summer on the show, and this could be because TPTB didn’t know what to do with him.
Perhaps we’re seeing Dev crop up more on the show now because he’s being developed into a new type of character.
Time will tell what happens here, but we’d say that Dev’s got potential to be a serious antagonist going forward on GH. Do you think that Dev will be Port Charles’ next manipulative schemer?
