General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s one character many fans would like to get some news on. Is it time for an update on Aiden Webber (Jason David) and his struggles? GH fans will recall that Aiden had a terrible time with bullies at school – and Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) was practically the ringleader!
Aiden had it rough since he was a loner and viewed as weird by his classmates. The poor kid was called cruel names and treated like an outsider. Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) tried to help Aiden as best as they could.
They addressed their suspicions that Aiden might turn out to be gay, although that’s not something they could know for sure just yet.
Even so, Aiden faced insults and was banned from a party due to apparently homophobic parents. Thankfully, Charlotte seemed to learn her lesson and things got a bit better for Aiden in the classroom.
Liz eventually mentioned that Aiden went on a trip to see Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) in Ireland, which left Liz and Franco proud of his independence.
However, Aiden’s problems wouldn’t just go away in the real world. A lot of kids tend to get meaner as they get older. Bullying tends to become even more of an issue as kids get closer to their middle school years.
Cameron Webber (William Lipton) got into fight with someone who called Aiden a gay slur, so things aren’t much better in high school either.
GH viewers saw Aiden briefly at Violet Finn’s (Jophielle Love) birthday bash, but he’s a quiet kid and it’s tough to know what’s going on inside his head. There’s also the matter of how Aiden will cope once he’s back in school this fall – perhaps with a teacher who isn’t as compassionate and helpful as Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen).
Of course, General Hospital writers might choose to move on and pretend it’s all good until Aiden’s older. Since they’ve laid the foundation for Aiden to be a gay teen, that’s a story that might play out down the road. There’d be some gripping drama that could tie in Aiden’s whole family.
In the meantime, the show will have to follow strict safety protocols once they’re back in production. The Bold and the Beautiful has written out kids for now, so GH will probably do the same. It eliminates an unnecessary risk, especially when parents can just say what the kids are doing offscreen.
It’ll be interesting to see exactly what GH will look like once all the adjustments are made. We’ll deliver updates as other news pops up.
