General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some sad news to pass on about a popular GH star. Anthony Montgomery, who plays Dr. Andre Maddox on the ABC soap, recently shared with his social media followers that his family has had a tremendous loss. Anthony shared that his beloved grandmother has passed away. Anthony’s grandmother was 96 years old.
Anthony took to Instagram to make the sad announcement. Anthony posted a beautiful photo of his grandmother along with the following message: “Yesterday was one of the most painful days of my life. My family lost our matriarch. I lost my grandma. My anchor. And the world lost one of the most beautiful souls to walk the Earth.”
Anthony continued: “I know I’ve gained an angel, but my grandma was my life. I’m gonna miss her. So much. 96 years is a wonderful life’s journey and I’m so thankful that God blessed us with her for such a long time.”
Anthony concluded by saying the following: “I’m in agony over losing her but my spirit is beyond grateful that she’s not in pain anymore. Rest in Paradise, grandma. I love you, beautiful lady.”
Anthony’s GH costars have responded with an outpouring of support for their friend and colleague during this sad time. Brytni Sarpy (ex-Valerie Spencer) replied to Anthony’s post with: “96 is such an accomplishment, wishing you and your family healing and comfort…” And Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) responded with: “So sorry, Anthony.”
Hudson West (Jake Spencer) offered his words of comfort as well, saying: “I am so sorry for your loss! You are in my thoughts & prayers.” Anthony has received a lot of comforting words from fans as well, with one person saying: “So sorry for your loss. Cherish those wonderful memories. Sending love and prayers.”
As you might know, Anthony is not currently on the GH canvas, and his character Andre was seen most recently during the memory mapping reversal procedure that he performed on Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). The procedure was ultimately a success, but Andre and Franco experienced danger when a gunman burst into the OR and tried to kill them both.
That’s when Peter August (Wes Ramsey) stepped in and shot the gunman dead while Andre was passed out on the floor. Fans haven’t seen Andre since, but many would love for him to return at some point in the future.
