General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that we need to talk about Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and the secrets she’s keeping. Carly recently came clean to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) about believing Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) was Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) biological daughter.
Carly admitted that Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) also knows, but she feels certain Jax will keep quiet to protect Nina’s heart. From Carly’s perspective, she feels like nothing would be more traumatic than Nina finding out her daughter is dead AND finding out that daughter was twisted Nelle.
As Nina pointed out on a recent GH episode, sometimes the truth can be brutal. General Hospital fans know that all too well! However, there’s a whole different side to this situation that can’t be ignored.
Nina reflected on having hope that she might find her child all these years, but she acknowledged that her child isn’t really a child anymore. She’s a grown woman.
It’s interesting that Nina would bring that up because there’s still a child involved here – just not the one Nina’s thinking of. Nina’s daughter may be dead, but her grandson is very much alive and well.
Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) is an amazing little boy that brings so much joy to those around him. Nina really deserves a chance to be a grandmother to Wiley.
Remember that Carly was a duped grandma not too long ago. Carly has voiced her outrage over Wiley being kept from his true family all that time. Isn’t it awfully hypocritical for Carly to be keeping Nina from her grandchild now?
It’s true that Nina would be devastated over Nelle’s death – and it’s risky to come clean since it could lead to questions about the events leading up to Nelle’s fatal cliff fall.
Even so, the world doesn’t revolve around Carly and what’s at stake for her. Nina’s feelings must be considered, too. She’s missing out on so many bonding opportunities with Wiley.
Shouldn’t Nina be able to take Wiley to play in the park, buy the kid ice cream cones, bring him Christmas presents and so much more? Grandma Carly can do all those things if she wants! Why shouldn’t Nina get the same chance to connect with Wiley?
Nina could make a lifetime of memories and fill the void that’s been in her heart for so long. It just seems cruel to rob Nina of a relationship with Wiley when she’s already been robbed of a relationship with her daughter.
