General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some news to pass on about a former GH star who has been mentioned quite a bit recently on the show. Emma Samms, who portrayed Holly Sutton on the ABC soap, has revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19 back in March, and although she was never hospitalized, she has suffered from what is now being called “long covid” and has experienced some truly horrible symptoms that have lingered.
Emma, who is well-known for her stint on General Hospital as well as her role as Fallon Carrington Colby on the hit prime-time series Dynasty, says that she has truly suffered from “long covid.”
Emma says that she has lived in “long covid” hell that fluctuates from relatively good days when she assumes that she is on the road to recovery to feeling terrible once again.
Worse, Emma reports having “panic inducing levels of fatigue” which has been compared medically to chronic fatigue syndrome. The good news here is that Emma’s symptoms have never required hospitalization, but the bad news is that “long covid” is something that doctors don’t really know how to treat at this point, and that Emma is continuing to suffer symptoms.
It seems that “long covid” is something that researchers are starting to see more and more, which would make sense given the timeline of the pandemic. The Daily Mail has reported that Emma has said: “I improve slightly, have a couple of good days and assume I am on the road to recovery only to go right back to feeling horrendous.”
Given that Holly’s name has come up so much on General Hospital recently, it’s been wondered by scores of fans whether Emma might be making a return as Holly.
As GH viewers know, her character allegedly died while on a WSB mission abroad, and now Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) seems determined to get to the bottom of the matter.
Robert is sure that Holly isn’t really dead, and to add another layer of mystery to the drama, Peter August (Wes Ramsey) had planned to stir up some trouble regarding Holly to make a distraction for Robert.
Yet, Peter seemed genuinely unhappy with his henchman who was supposed to cause trouble for Holly, and that henchman reported that what happened to Holly (i.e., her supposed death) occurred before he could get to her.
It’s all a big mystery right now, but hopefully GH viewers will get some answers soon about what happened to Holly. And we wish Emma all the best as well, as she deals with this “long covid” nightmare.
