General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that fans are speaking out about one couple’s split – mostly because many viewers didn’t even know they were together! On the September 23 episode, Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) insisted Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) was a “lousy boyfriend” and broke up with him.
That came as a shock to plenty of General Hospital fans who felt out of the loop.
GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini made matters worse with his teaser for the show, which led to some complaints afterward. “A major couple breaks up today!” Valentin said on Twitter. Come on now! “Major couple” seems like the overstatement of the century.
Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) are a major couple. Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) are a major couple. But Scott and Bobbie?!
They’re about as far from major couple status as you can get. Bobbie and Scott were barely a couple at all since many fans had no idea they were dating.
Let’s look at some tweets from a few disgruntled fans. “A major couple would have had their relationship onscreen NOT offscreen,” one viewer insisted. “Bobbie and Scotty deserve better than this.” “Scott & Bobbie are a major couple?? On what show? We see them like 3 times a year,” another fan said.
“Major couple!!!? So funny,” one GH watcher added. “They weren’t on anyone’s radar or interest list. Barely remembered they were suppose to be a couple…” “I wish Bobbie and Scotty were a major couple. They should be shown a lot more respect then they receive,” another fan tweeted.
Many viewers felt like it was cruel to have Scott and Bobbie have an offscreen relationship and then just break them up before it ever went anywhere. What was the point?
It seems like it only made fans more riled about the treatment of some vets, especially Scotty! He’s hilarious and could be used far more than they typically use him.
Now that Bobbie has dumped Scott, could new love be on the horizon for one or both of them? If so, let’s just hope it happens on screen next time! As other GH news and updates emerge, we’ll fill you in.
