General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) brought up an interesting point recently. Ever since Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) entered the story, GH has been leading fans to assume that Nina had a daughter.
After Sasha was revealed as a fraud, the storyline became about finding Nina’s real daughter – but it’s possible Nina has a son.
Nina acknowledged that she only knows she had a child; she can’t be certain whether that child was a daughter or son. General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini also sent out a tweet about Nina getting a clue – and he added that it could be about her son or daughter.
GH is seemingly sliding into an area where they can keep their options open.
Here’s what we know so far. General Hospital Head Writers have confirmed Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) is Nina’s daughter in various interviews. However, we all know how often storylines can change on soaps.
There’s no guarantee Nelle will stick as this long-lost child – although they’ll definitely have to explain how she ended up with that half-heart pendant.
Of course, the “Nelle is Nina’s daughter” story could be pretty darn epic considering Nina’s betrayal on the stand sent Nelle off the rails and led to her cliff fall. We’ve also got Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Jasper “Jax” Jacks’ (Ingo Rademacher) cover-up, so this storyline is pure gold. It’s a soap writer’s dream!
There’s honestly no way GH will pass up revealing Nelle as Nina’s daughter, but that doesn’t mean another reveal won’t come before or after. That brings us to the sudden inclusion of this son possibility.
What’s the reason for that? If Nina does have a son, who could he be? One option that immediately comes to mind is Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor).
General Hospital fans still don’t have much information on Brando. How can we be sure who gave birth to him? Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) may not be Brando’s true mother.
We all know Gladys has no problem making shady agreements – as evidenced by her deal to pretend Dev Cerci aka “Dev Corbin” is her grandson. Maybe Gladys made a different deal many years ago and ended up with Nina’s baby.
It’s worth noting that Brando seems a lot like Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) – Nina’s cousin who was raised as her brother. Nathan’s strong, steady, easy-going and has Nathan’s same rugged charm. It’d be easy to buy Brando as a long-lost son for Nina due to the family resemblance.
Brando might be Nelle’s twin, even if they have to fudge a bit on the age. Billy Miller (Drew Cain) and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) played twins despite about a 10-year age gap, so it’s really not a big deal. It’s a soap, so whatever works!
Then again, some confusion could lead to Nina mistakenly assuming Brando is her son. That might happen before the Nelle drama blows up. Another option might be that Nelle’s a red herring and Brando will be the real deal child in the end.
Now that GH is raising this son possibility, there’s no shortage of theories to mull over.
