General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) are gearing up for another major faceoff following this custody battle. Even joint custody of Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) would be too much in Carly’s eyes.
Full custody would obviously be the worst-case scenario to Carly, but Carly’s holding out hope that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) can raise Wiley without Nelle’s involvement.
Of course, that may be wishful thinking on Carly’s part. Nelle is Wiley’s biological mother and has managed to get away with her most recent crimes.
It’s tough to imagine Nelle being denied any custody rights at all in this situation. Nelle should wind up getting joint or even full custody – especially if Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) pushes the judge to give Nelle a chance.
Naturally, this is only going to rev up Carly and Nelle’s feud even more. It could give something to rub in Carly’s face to intensify this GH conflict.
It’ll also give Carly a reason to target Nelle and maybe even consider following up on those death threats she delivered! Carly doesn’t mess around when it comes to her grandson’s safety. If there comes a time when Carly feels there’s genuine, immediate danger to Wiley, Carly could certainly make a bold move to get Nelle out of the picture.
However, Carly may just have to learn to live with Nelle if she shares custody with Michael. Nina is Nelle’s biological mother, so that shocker will hit Port Charles soon enough. What happens if Nina is actually able to soften Nelle somewhat and turn her into a decent mom?
Nelle’s probably never going to be someone like Willow, but she could at least become a better version of herself. If Nelle starts to change due to Nina’s influence, will Carly accept that? Is there any way Carly will believe Nelle’s made improvements? That could be tough based on Nelle and Carly’s history.
Carly’s family has been burned so many times by Nelle’s lies and manipulation. How can Carly ever believe that Nelle isn’t lying and manipulating again – even if she’s not?
There’s also the possibility of Nelle reverting to her old wicked ways after changing. Nelle may not be capable of sticking to this new-and-improved version that Nina will inevitably want her to be.
Then again, Carly turned her life around, so maybe there’s hope for Nelle to do the same. What about Carly and Nelle’s relationship though? Is peace possible for Nelle and Carly or are they doomed to be bitter enemies forever? The latter seems most likely at this point, but General Hospital fans will be eager to see how it goes!
