General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) decision could be a huge clue about what’s ahead. Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) ordeal with Mike Corbin (Max Gail) helped Jason see how important it is to be prepared.
Jason certainly doesn’t want Sam McCall (Lindsay Hartley) to land in that position – and that’s why he’s giving Carly Corithos (Laura Wright) his power of attorney.
Carly is someone who can respect Jason’s final wishes. Jason doesn’t want to be kept alive by machines, so he feels like Carly will pull the plug if it comes to that. Sam, however, might struggle to let Jason die.
Although Carly’s incredibly close to Jason, she’s just a dear friend – not the woman who’s in love with him or Danny Morgan’s (Porter Fasullo) mother.
That makes a big difference when you’re talking about a major decision like this. Sam was understandably upset that Jason would allow Carly to decide his fate, but this is really about who Jason trusts to carry out his own wishes – and that’s Carly. Jason’s taking the burden off Sam and ensuring he can do things his way.
Obviously, this seems like a setup for serious trouble! There has to be a point to all this. Simply talking about Jason’s power of attorney isn’t some exciting part of the plot. This needs to build to a moment where Carly’s actually facing her worst fear: deciding whether Jason lives or dies and in what condition.
Of course, it also seems significant that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) vowed to take Jason out. Cyrus feels like the quickest way to leave Sonny vulnerable is to get rid of Jason first. Will Jason get caught in deadly danger? Could Jason wind up shot and comatose?
Jason might be given very little hope of recovering if that happens. Carly could feel obligated to keep her promise to Jason and let him die rather than live hooked up to machines. Sam, on the other hand, might sense that Jason’s still in there somewhere.
It’s easy to imagine Sam clashing with Carly and fighting to keep Jason alive. Sam might believe she’d get a miracle and beg Jason to come back to her.
Since Jason isn’t going anywhere, Sam would definitely be right in that situation. Regardless, it’d bring some great high-stakes General Hospital drama, which is what GH fans want!
