General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Joe Flanigan (ex-Neil Byrne) has a reason to be grateful despite the show’s decision to kill him off. After Neil’s sudden and shocking death, plenty of outraged fans banded together to voice their support for Flanigan.
There’s been a huge push to get Flanigan back on the show, so the former GH star was left floored and filled with gratitude.
“I am totally flattered by what you and all these people have done,” Flanigan said in a video message to a fan, which was later shared on Twitter. “I can’t believe 10,000 people signed a petition to get me back on General Hospital.”
That’s certainly a lot of GH viewers who’d like to see Neil return from the dead! Since it’s a soap, anything is possible. Deaths can be faked, long-lost twins can show up, random lookalikes can pop up out of nowhere… There are ways to bring Neil back on screen if General Hospital ultimately decides to reverse the decision.
Flanigan doesn’t seem too optimistic about that, but he’s holding out hope since he still wants to be on GH. “It’s very flattering,” Flanigan said. “I don’t know if it makes any difference, but I hope it does. I would love to continue doing the show.”
Flanigan mentioned staying in touch with Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), who wasn’t happy about General Hospital’s decision to let Flanigan go. Many GH fans were disappointed as well! The show took so long trying to get this romance going only to let it fall apart instantly and tragically.
On Twitter, disgruntled Neil and “Nelexis” supporters have been voicing their disapproval. “I’m just wondering why GH felt the need to kill Neil,” one angry fan tweeted. “He was only on like once or twice a month anyhow. How much screen time was he taking? And Alexis was happy for 1 minute- we couldn’t give her a few months?”
Another General Hospital viewer echoed that idea. “Enough with your constant torturing of #Alexis,” his irate fan said. “Give her a real story and bring #Neil back so she has a real love interest. I’m sick of the constant beat down of her great character. Good grief”
Flanigan revealed that his latest project is See, which is a sci-fi drama on Apple TV. However, Flanigan isn’t ruling out a return to General Hospital someday! “Thank you for your support. We’ll see what happens,” Flanigan said in his video message. He later added, “I really appreciate it. And God knows what the future holds.”
