General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Marcus Coloma is settling into the role of Nikolas Cassadine nicely. You can’t please everyone, but Coloma is a great actor and also happens to be quite handsome. He’s a solid recast and has already had some memorable moments in just a few short months on the show.
Of course, one of those memorable moments involved Nikolas bursting though the doors at Wyndemere with Ava Jerome (Maura West) in his arms. It was such a classic soapy scene – one that left General Hospital fans gushing over the excitement.
In a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest, Coloma opened up about that long-awaited wedding interruption and the reaction it received. He was overwhelmed by the support of all the GH viewers out there. One fan’s response in particular stood out to him. It turns out Coloma’s mom was just as excited as the rest of us!
“I got so many messages when that aired – even my mom called and said she was screaming at the TV!” Coloma said. “It created such a reaction, which is always super-fun to be a part of.”
Coloma admitted that when he read the script, he thought that moment had the potential to be awesome. However, he’s learned that there are a lot of unknowns and things don’t always pan out the way you want once they hit the screen. Coloma was pleased that it all came together and became something GH fans could collectively gush over.
Of course, Coloma was also excited about Nik’s big chance to face off with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). He admitted he’s already become quite invested in his character’s storyline. “I was geeking out in that sense,” Coloma said. “I was fully invested in, “I get to confront Valentin!’”
As for Nikolas and Ava’s new marriage, Coloma’s eager to see where that leads. He suggested that the new husband and wife challenge each other, which makes for a complicated and interesting relationship. “It’s an interesting game that they’re playing,” Coloma said. “I think Ava is the only person right now who seems to understand him.”
Could that understanding lead to genuine sparks down the road? This Nikloas and Ava marriage of convenience may eventually become one of true love. General Hospital spoilers say growing feelings may present some unanticipated obstacles.
