General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Mark Lawson (Dustin Phillips) is speaking out about his exit from the ABC soap. GH fans watched as Dustin faced a quick death following the explosion at The Floating Rib, so Lawson wanted to thank the cast and crew to mark the end of his run.
On Instagram, Lawson put up a video of himself removing fake blood and grime from the post-blast scenes. The General Hospital star admitted to having some mixed emotions as Dustin’s time in Port Charles reached an abrupt conclusion.
“Actors know this moment is bittersweet,” Lawson said in his post. “Job well done, but leaving a set full of like-minded, inspired people. Playing Dustin was a joy.” Lawson formed some strong bonds with his costars while he was on GH, so he gave some special shoutouts to several of those he was closest to.
“Every day on set was a gift, as were @emmerylan @kirstenstorms @briana.lane @thedominator1979 @wes_ramsey @locicero_lisa @mauricebenard @bfordanderson . (And others that don’t have social media!),” Lawson said.
It’s clear that Lawson has a lot of love for his General Hospital family – and they certainly love him back! Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) told Lawson that he’s “truly the sweetest.” Briane Lane (ex-Brook Lynn Quartermaine) also offered up three heart emojis in the comments, so she’s feeling the love, too.
Parry Shen (Brad Cooper) chimed in and insisted he was happy he could connect with Lawson through their work on General Hospital. “Kick-ass, run! Glad we were able to get to know each other through this,” Shen said. Lawson admitted that “it’s been one of the great surprises of this job.”
Although Lawson’s time on GH has come to a close, he seems incredibly grateful for the opportunity the show gave him. Lawson also wanted to commend General Hospital on how they’ve been able to get their cast and crew back on set safely.
“Thank you @generalhospitalabc,” Lawson said. “Honored to be part of television history not only on this show, but to be among the first actors back to work in town post-Covid. The set always felt safe, and I was proud to be in front of the camera in such a strange time. Thank you for everything. Stay soapy.”
The death of Dustin was a shock to many GH fans – and plenty of viewers are sad to see Lawson go! However, we certainly wish Lawson the best of luck on whatever projects he tackles next. We’ll keep you in the loop as other news and updates emerge.
