General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Ava Cassadine (Maura West) will continue to face some marriage drama. Ava and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) seem to have some feelings for each other under the surface, but there’s still major conflict going on. Could Ava’s perfect man actually be someone else? Time will tell, but Maura West offered an interesting pairing possibility on Twitter,
The fun started when West chose to weigh in on a Days of Our Lives promo. DOOL put out their weekly preview video, which features Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) preparing to marry Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth). Kayla’s heart truly lies with her soulmate, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), so West warned the bride not to go through with the wedding.
“Don’t do it, Kayla,” West said in a tweet. Soon after, Days Head Writer Ron Carlivati sent West a message and made a joke involving Wally Kurth being on both shows. Kurth plays DOOL’s Justin and GH’s Ned Quartermaine, so he’s a busy guy!
It’s worth mentioning that Mary Beth Evans played Katherine Bell on GH back in the ‘90s. Katherine and Ned were paired up at one point – so now that pairing has been revisited on Days through Kayla and Justin. Stephen Nichols also used to play Stefan Cassadine on General Hospital, so there are plenty of soapy connections here.
Even Carlivati has GH ties as the show’s former head writer. In his reply to West, Carlivati had some fun by acknowledging Kurth’s role as Ned in Port Charles. “What did Ned ever do to you?” Carlivati teased. “Nothing yet…but a girl can dream….” West replied. She added a kiss mark emoji as she hinted about Ava and Ned getting together.
Naturally, West was just kidding around! Ned seems perfectly happy with Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) and would probably never date Ava even if he were single!
But like West suggested, we can dream! Maybe GH will give Ned and Ava a shot one day or at least pair them up for an alternate reality episode. General Hospital once did that with Ava and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), so you never know.
Regardless, it’s nice to see West supporting the only soap that’s delivering new episodes right now. As for GH, they’re hoping to get back in business by mid-July. That could put new episodes onscreen before August is over, so that’d be terrific news if it all works out.
