General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) may realize how hard it is to recapture the past. Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) was the perfect guy for Willow when he entered her life.
Willow was still struggling with the trauma of leaving Dawn of Day and escaping the horrors Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) had inflicted.
Chase was patient, kind and just the kind of man Willow needed to learn to trust again. They found a beautiful spark that allowed Willow to feel free and alive.
Chase was also there for Willow as she tried to keep Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) away from Shiloh – and he supported her in the aftermath of the baby switch revelation, too.
Chase and Willow were the ideal fit at the time, but so much has changed since then. Willow is a married woman and has allowed Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) to steal her heart. There was always a nice foundation for Michael and Willow to build on anyway.
GH fans know Michael was once poised to ask Willow out, but Chase beat him to it. If Michael had been a little bolder in his pursuit of Willow from the get-go, they might’ve fallen for each other much sooner.
However, that just wasn’t meant to be. Perhaps Willow was meant to have what she had with Chase – at least for that short while. Chase helped Willow overcome some major challenges and for that she’ll be forever grateful. Chase will always be Willow’s first real love away from the cult.
Now that Willow has grown and changed in her relationship with Michael, she may struggle to reconnect with Chase. Willow isn’t exactly the same person, so her romance with Chase can’t be the same either. This could prove frustrating for Chase in the coming weeks, but sometimes you just can’t go back.
In some ways, Willow and Chase are almost like high-school sweethearts. They didn’t actually meet in high school, but it’s the same sort of situation. Many people have their first real love around that time and think back on them fondly. It’s often more of a steppingstone to finding a mature, lasting relationship later.
As for Michael, he honestly walked away from Sasha pretty easily. They had a fun fling type of vibe – some flying sparks that weren’t meant to last.
Honestly, Sasha’s drug addiction story was never believable because Michael and Sasha’s relationship never had much substance. It felt like a forced plot point for Sasha to be this distraught over losing Michael.
Now that Michael and Willow have found each other, they make a great match and have an adorable family with Wiley. It just feels like they’ve grown into this marriage together, so leaving it behind wouldn’t make sense at this point.
Chase is Willow’s past, but Michael may be her future. Michael will always cherish the time he had with Sasha, but Willow seems to be the woman for him now. Will General Hospital stick with Michael and Willow as the couple to root for? We’ll bring you updates as other GH news comes in.
