General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) death will weigh heavily on Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) heart. Sonny found a way to let go and even received a special gift once his dad was gone. It always bothered Mike that he never got Sonny the bicycle he promised, so Mike came through in the end.
GH seems to have thought of everything when it comes to playing up closure for Sonny, so they may keep up that trend and deliver a funeral for Mike. There’s no confirmation on Mike having a service, but it’d be weird for General Hospital to skip it after all the time they’ve spent on Mike’s farewell.
There should at least be some sort of acknowledgement about a funeral or something similar to honor Mike’s memory. Even if we just see Sonny and his family coming home from the gathering all dressed up, they may mention that they paid their respects and said their last goodbyes.
Of course, it’ll never be goodbye forever! Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) helped Mike’s loved ones by pointing out that after friends and family members pass away, they still live on in our hearts. Plus, Max Gail was such a beloved performer among the cast, crew and fans that he’ll probably pop up in spirit form in the months and years to come.
In times of crisis when Sonny really needs his dad, Mike might visit his son as a ghost. We’ve certainly seen the show use that tactic with dead characters before, so Mike should be no different. There may even be another surprise Mike moment or two planned for this potential funeral or the burial that might follow.
As for Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), he’s eager to make it home to his family ASAP. Depending on how fast Dante can accept this special op, he might make a surprise funeral appearance.
Whatever the case, Mike’s story is coming to a poignant conclusion – and what better way to truly wrap it up than with a funeral to remember him by?
