General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s something fans are always eager to see in Port Charles – and that’s big returns. It’s always tough to say goodbye when beloved characters leave, no matter how their exits play out. However, there’s an interesting trend in PC that’s worth talking about. It could mean more comebacks are on the horizon, so let’s unpack what GH has been doing.
Last fall, General Hospital finally brought back Nikolas Cassadine in the form of Marcus Coloma. Amanda Setton later took over the role of Brook Lynn Ashton, who became Brook Lynn Quartermaine soon enough. This seems to be a tactic GH is focusing on – introducing new faces to the canvas by recasting familiar roles.
When a brand-new character comes on the scene, it can be difficult for viewers to get to know him or her. That’s one reason why newbies sometimes don’t have much longevity. Recasts are a great strategy since we already know them and their history. They can be dropped into stories immediately because the other characters on canvas know them, too.
Nikolas and Brook Lynn had people to interact with right off the bat, so that had to make things easier than if Coloma and Setton had played new roles. Could General Hospital have plans to recast another key player?
Now that some time has passed since Nik’s return from the “dead,” perhaps this is the perfect opportunity to resurrect another presumed dead character.
Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) has certainly been on everyone’s mind lately. There were recently some flashbacks about Morgan – like when Nelle Benson Archer (Chloe Lanier) pretended she wanted to honor Morgan’s memory by naming her baby after him. We also saw when Nelle “haunted” Carly and sprayed Morgan’s cologne at his grave.
The encore episode on April 17 also featured Morgan in Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) nightmare, so we’ve all got Morgan on the brain! There would be a ton of potential in bringing Morgan back from the “dead.”
Just think of all the stunned reunions with the Corinthos family. If Morgan has stayed away all this time by choice, that’d be even better.
Imagine Morgan being a bit of a pariah like Nik – especially when it comes to his hurt family members. Could a struggling Morgan connect with Nelle, despite how she treated Carly?
Maybe Morgan could even come to resent Carly a little himself for not welcoming him back with open arms! A Morgan and Nelle pairing would make Carly and Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) heads explode.
Since Bryan Craig posted about moving from LA to New York in March, he’s clearly not interested in a GH comeback. This is General Hospital’s opportunity to start fresh with a recast, so maybe it’s something they’ll go for down the line.
