General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nelle Benson Jerome’s (Chloe Lanier) cliff fall opened up some interesting story paths. Nelle’s body wasn’t found, but it’s doubtful she just got up and hobbled off after plummeting that far. That kind of fall would’ve resulted in serious injuries – ones that would’ve required urgent medical attention.
So why wasn’t dead or unconscious Nelle down there? General Hospital viewers saw Nelle’s necklace, which had fallen off from the tumble, but Nelle was nowhere to be found. That means Nelle must’ve had some help. Someone obviously came along, found Nelle and came to her rescue.
General Hospital now has the mystery of who helped Nelle and whether they might be somebody fans recognize. It’s possible GH could just make Nelle’s secret helper someone random, but why when they could make it someone important? Perhaps there’s a character who could fit perfectly in this story.
Bryan Craig (Morgan Corinthos) recently revealed that he’s available for work on any of the four soaps, so General Hospital has an opportunity to snatch him back up. If they do, what might Morgan’s return arc look like? Let’s paint a picture that’d make for some fantastic drama.
Morgan was presumed dead in an explosion, but a presumed death doesn’t matter much on a soap. Since Craig is willing to come back, GH can easily undo Morgan’s demise. It’s possible Morgan’s been living off the grid – maybe in the mountains where he might’ve been out for a moonlight walk and stumbled across a familiar face.
What if GH writes in some fake flashbacks and shows us Morgan found Nelle? Shortly before Morgan supposedly died, he talked to Nelle at The Floating Rib. Morgan connected with Nelle and suggested they were two of a kind. That led to Morgan kissing Nelle, although she gently rejected his advances.
Of course, Morgan has also missed out on the horror Nelle inflicted on his family. He wouldn’t hate Nelle with a passion like the rest of the Corinthos clan. Just imagine Morgan scooping Nelle up and taking her back to his cabin to recover.
Morgan might’ve wanted to avoid being seen in public – especially if he’s been intentionally staying away from his family all this time.
Morgan might have his meds shipped to him regularly, but he may not want contact with the outside world otherwise. Maybe Morgan doesn’t feel like he’s good enough for his family.
It’s awfully hard to compete with Mr. Wonderful himself, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). Morgan may not be keen on living in his perfect brother’s shadow.
This is a great opportunity for presumed dead Morgan and presumed dead Nelle to become kindred spirits – two of a kind just like Morgan once suggested. If Nelle can keep Morgan on her side, she might convince him to come out of hiding.
Nelle would have to worry about Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and her crew poisoning Morgan against her, but she might offer altered versions of events – framing herself as the victim. Maybe Morgan would even see Nelle as someone who needs mental help like him and another chance.
We’d imagine Morgan is awfully lonely by now – and Nelle would be a link to the life that he’s lost. Morgan could nurse Nelle back to health and fall for her in the process. Naturally, this could also give Nelle a bargaining chip once she recovers and is ready to resurface.
Nelle might offer Carly an opportunity to reunite with her “dead” son. She might tell Carly she knows where Morgan is and can convince him to come home – IF her demands are met.
Those demands would certainly include no jail time and at least shared custody of Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson). If Carly can make those things happen for Nelle, they might have a deal.
