General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nelle Benson Jerome’s (Chloe Lanier) passcode may have offered a huge hint about the future. GH fans know Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) was struggling to figure out what would unlock Nelle’s phone.
Michael tried Nelle’s birthday along with Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos’ (Erik and Theo Olson) birthday, but he had no luck.
Since Michael was running out of tries, he stopped to think about what would truly be important to Nelle. What would really matter to her? That led to Michael’s fake flashback, which involved a conversation about the date Nelle was reborn: March 21, 2011.
After Nelle’s kidney surgery, she considered that day the beginning of her new life.
Now let’s think about what this might mean for the story. For starters, we should acknowledge that this is awfully bizarre. It’s a newly invented piece of info since Nelle never talked about this “reborn” date before. The faux flashback was filmed recently – as evidenced by the long hair Michael was sporting in it.
GH writers have clearly invented a plot point to use. They could’ve written anything as Nelle’s passcode. They didn’t have to make something up like this and film a flashback to go along with it.
Put yourself in the writers’ shoes for a moment. Would you devote the time and energy to a weird reborn date if it was just going to be a phone passcode? This feels like something that’s going to come up again.
That brings us to Nelle’s fate. Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) clutched Nelle’s hand as tight as she could and tried to yank her up, but it was no use. Nelle seemingly fell to her death after losing the battle with that cliff, but “seemingly” is the key word here.
It’s doubtful that Nelle’s gone forever, so that naturally brings the question of when she’ll be back.
“Dead” Nelle needs to be “reborn,” now doesn’t she? Perhaps it’s not a coincidence that shortly before Nelle’s fall, General Hospital brought up March 21, 2011. That’s especially true when you consider what the upcoming year is.
What if Nelle is “reborn” on March 21, 2021 – 10 years to the day of this anniversary she found important enough to make her phone passcode?
Nelle will need a new date to start her life over again, so it might as well be a significant one. Once Nelle fights her way back to health following whatever injuries she might’ve sustained, she could return from the “dead.”
That’d give General Hospital time to wrap up some other stories and play out all the drama they need to. They might rest Nelle for several months before she makes a comeback.
Of course, we should note that March 21 will fall on a Sunday, but that’s no big deal. The Friday before or Monday after would work just fine. It’s no different than when soaps celebrate holidays like Thanksgiving on a different day.
Whatever day they say it is in Port Charles is what matters. Soap time often stretches one day into several anyway.
Regardless, it’s beyond strange for Nelle to suddenly have a date that involves a new life right before her “death.” It seems like that has to mean something. Do you think Nelle’s reborn date will become even more important? Will Nelle once again use that as the day she starts her life over again?
